She heard a rubbing/grinding noise

Inner pad has no pad material left, and look at those holes on the rotor in the second pic :cautious:

You might even need new calipers if you can't get the slide pins out. Raybestos makes all-new calipers for many cars, so get those if they're available for car and you need calipers.

Coated rotors along with the pads of your choice

My mom did this with an ‘03 Buick Rendezvous in 2013ish, they looked just like that. She called and told me the brakes started making noise. I went to pick it up and drive it over to my grandparents’ house which were a few miles away to use their driveway. She gives me the keys and I almost backed into the wall in the apartment complex. The pedal went to the floor. I had to use the parking brake to barely make it 3 miles over. Had to replace the caliper too because it ruined it and leaked all the fluid out. When I brought it back she said “oh yeah, I had to use the parking brake too”…

I probably put 4-5 sets of pads on that car in not that many miles. Probably a set every 12k. It ate them up like breakfast.

The inner pad is done, the brakes are shot. Probably not lubed correctly and/or were dragging. I'd scrap the rotors, then check the calipers and brake hoses too. The first thought that comes to my mind is unsafe.
