Center Support Bearing Diagnosis

From what I can tell this uses a 5006 RS bearing, I don't know if it is a push in or if it is bonded in.

I found the info from this part. I dont hink I would trust that one though, longevity might be that of a wet noodle.

I’m not sure if that bearing is correct?

1.181” vs 0.750”.

But I’m sure a quality replacement exists.

Oddly the noise went away when it got warmer. I’m going to get the car on a lift on Sunday. I’m not sure I’m going to find play.

This one is kind of weird, it has a few cv joints in it. They’re sealed with metal to metal seals with an Oring underneath.

ETMotorsports on YouTube had a good diy.

So weird that the noise went away now that it’s a bit warmer!

52F today, took the vehicle out again. Absolutely no noise.

Will put it on a lift tomorrow, but doubt ill find anything….

Certainly that bearing carrier needs some help…

My good used driveshaft may be a good bet, vs replacing with a Chinese bearing.

Flex disk looked fine for being original:

As did front joint.

The rear brakes just from spinning the wheels are noisier than the fronts. Both sides. Not 100% sure if it’s the parking brake or the pads. Parking brake line needs some help.

Thing is, I have to push the parking brake pretty hard to the floor to get a full hold. Pads look fine. There isn’t as much under-car adjustment in this system, as in the older sedans. If the PB pads are dragging, they’re only a minor contributor to the noise, not in the right spots, and don’t create heat.

So it was the center bearing support rotted away like they all eventually do. Bearing may have contributed, but I'm sure you're going to replace it with support.
Yeah, those cables probably aren't fully releasing every time. They need to go before they freeze.
Did I say it was Ancient Aliens? Yes, yes I did!

Oh, I have seven in my current collection.

Of course this is the only one that isn’t intrinsically replaceable. Ugh.

And Chinese or $1700.

That price is unbelievable! These bearings and the supports are almost consumables to long term owners. I don't think I payed $75 for an OE bearing and support for my E320 at Autohauz.

Yeah, the ones for my 123/124/201/126 cars are all very cost-effective.
