From the web sites FAQ section

Q: Does Castrol Edge contain Polyalphaolefins (a.k.a. PAO)

A: Castrol Edge is made from a proprietary combination of base oils, which include PAO.

So, it would seem that it has at least some "real" synthetic oil in it.

I'd be interested to see an VOA and an UOA with Castrol Edge.

IMHO it would be a mistake to pre-judge the Castrol Edge product before we see actual test data. Just think about it, if we all pre-judged GC, then we would have missed out on a GREAT oil.

I ahve also heard certain things about Syntec 5w40 as well.

+1....

I'm sure Edge is a very good oil. Castrol has always been more focused on flashy marketing & profit than product performance IMO.

Castrol has offered no oil to date that meets GM 4718M until now so I think they are playing catch up personally. The Edge line and other oils like the BMW Castrol are decent oils. Syntec leaves little to be desired.

^^Looks to me that it`s just an over priced synthetic blend selling for a Full Synthetic price.

How do you know that the other base oils aren't synthetic?

That in its own will make your car drive as if it was driven by Vin Diesel !!!
