Wow! you've got me beat. I;ve used M1 for 31 years. It was in fact 5-20. If you guys think oil is high now, M1 in 78 cost $5.00 a qt. I guess that would be at least $15.00 a qt. in todays money. Mineral oil was aprox. 35 cents then.

You are right there. I used Q state in65-67 in a Ply. Valiant. Changed the oil every 2,000 miles. In 2 years had to take the valve cover off to scoop out the sludge wih a spoon.

I remember purchasing it on base at Whitemen AFM in MO and it was about 4 to 5 bucks a can...reg oil was around 50 cents to around 1 buck.

As usual, some people wish to criticize another person's post.

I was just stating my opinion, which I do have the right to state, and yes you have the right to criticize to your heart's content. I do know that you purchased the new product, Castrol Edge, and must have had "feelings" to "defend" your decision.

I stand by my opinion as you stand by yours. Either way you put money into my pocket no matter which oil you buy. Thanks for the money, I don't need the money, but you put it right into my pocket. Have a nice day Audi Junkie!

I'm not saying Edge is the greatest, but in fairness to the product, your quote above is in error, especially with respect to stop and go driving. In addition, the limitations/restrictions on Castrol Edge are essentially identical to those of Mobil1's 15K oil, the EP line.

Even if Castrol is surpassing Mobil 1 right now, it probably won't be for long. The sleeping giant will rise again.


Castrol has some excellent products in Europe, I wish they would bring the true Euro style weights of Edge here ala GC...

from what i've seen castrol edge has been around for quit some time but has only been available in Europe. I watched a UK thing on u-tube talking it up. Another was from the Outback of australia. so i think this is one of those attempts to bring the euro stuff over, but need the diff weights too. also they need to bring over the Toyota Hilux
