I did the first oil change on my tiny tractor today at 10hrs and took some pics of the cut open factory filter. The first manufacturer recommended service is 50hrs. I did it early as my machine is over a year old as it was a dealer leftover that spent much of it's time on display out in the parking lot. It had 2hrs on it when I bought it and after PDI and delivery, had 4. The tractor is a TYM T224 sub-compact. The engine is a Yanmar 3TNM74F. It's a 3cyl, 21.5hp, all mechanical diesel. There's no markings on the factory filter aside from what you see on the internal media can. It was a nicely constructed filter and took some doing to cut open and the media was also very tough to cut and open up. There was some sparkles and what looked like pain debris in the media and can. I replaced it with a Champ XL that I use on one of my Nissans and refilled with Vavoline HDEO synthetic blend "advanced blue" 10w30. It only holds 2qts. The TYM/Yanmar oil viscosity range chart preferences 5w30 and 10w30, but pretty much everything is on the chart.

Great work. Thank You sir

For 50 hours that filter seems to be up to the task. The base plate reminds me of some made in India but that gray ADBV is different. Bypass quality goes to that OEM filter though. Thanks for cutting.

I have the bigger brother 3TNV80 in my 1025R with 235 hours, runs great. Many examples of 1000+ hours. Nice tractor and you will have a ball. That looks like a well sorted engine bay.
Thank you! I am loving it so far. The power train is laid out very similar to a Kubota BX and the transaxle looks very BX-ish. I'll post up some more pics and info in the OPE section...

Yes, under normal circumstances this filter looks like it could go the long haul. Replacing it with a genuine Yanmar filter would have been best. You know how that goes being a BITOGer. lol

Any chance on using the third longer 7317 size instead of the 6607?

5W-30 and 10W-30 HDEO (diesel) motor oil can be hard to find.

I would have used a full synthetic CK-4…

True way to tell is do a burn test like zee06 mentioned to me once. That will tell us.
I've not heard of this burn test before. I assume silicone "burns" differently than rubber? I don't have a problem doing this, the problem is, given the unknown origin of this filter, there's no way to replicate it.

The mechanical lift pump that transfers fuel from the tank to the high pressure pump is really close to the filter. You can kind of make it out in the engine pic I posted above. A longer filter would shove up against the hose(s). In terms of the oil I used, below is what I used this time around. I'll probably change it again in 10-20hrs. I'll probably only put about 25hrs/year on this tractor, if that.

Nitrile rubber burns and is very black smoke trail. Silicone doesn’t burn too well. Try burn test

You know I wasn't going to be able to let this go.. As if I haven't lost my mind enough! LOL

It readily burned, but could have been the residual oil on it. Turned to a very fine white ash which rubs right off.
