Both very good filtersLooks like the Purolator Boss would be a PBL25288. The MicroGard Select is a MSL51522. I'm not as familiar with the construction of these.
Go The the Advance Auto Parts website and see what they have posted. Carquest Premium Blue is 99.5% @ 20 microns. MicroGard Select 51522 is 99% @ 25 microns. Its 46 micron @ 99% as others posted
That's meIs this the same blsnelling on various chainsaw related forums over the years?

Purolator is the only one willing to share an official specification sheet. The Carquest Premiums & Oreilly's Microgards are really well built filters & will do everything you need them to except efficiency spec since that's not known.Basically, what I'm looking for is a 3675/51522 equivalent 4" tall filter with a mesh backed media and at least 99% @ 25 microns efficiency.
Wix 51522 | 99% @ 21µm | $8.33 | Amazon | |

Royal Purple 20-59 | 99% @ 25µm | $18.99 | Wire backed media | O'Reilly |
MicroGard Select MSL51522 | 99% @ 25µm | $9.99 | Captured bypass valve, coil spring | O'Reilly |
Carquest Premium Blue 85522 | 99.5% @ 20µm | $6.23 / $7.79 | Captured bypass valve, coil spring | Advance Auto |
can confirm that new stock has silicone O-rings. that is my go-to filter to put on all of the LS swap projects we do. old stock i’ve seen is still premium guard just without the silicone O-ring.Looking at their website pictures it shows Microgard with a silicon Oring gasket while the Carquest does not. Go to the store to actually look at these filters before making your decision. Good to know if the Microgard & Carquest are actually different.
Which brings me to the next point I was going to make to OP since they're the same (I assumed the same as well) but thanks for actual confirmation.can confirm that new stock has silicone O-rings. that is my go-to filter to put on all of the LS swap projects we do. old stock i’ve seen is still premium guard just without the silicone O-ring.
May have to "click to expand" for you to see my bold.I'm trying to summarize what I've learned here? See any errors or omissions?

Glad you were able to figure that out. Same filter with 2 different claimed ratings...no surprise from me.I can confirm. This is for a different application, but I just bought it yesterday.

The ADBV still keeps the oil in the galleries above the filter from draining down.About the FE9837...what is the purpose of a ADBV if the filter installs vertically anyway? Why would one be needed for my application?
It doesn't need wire backing because it's not full synthetic media.I'll be honest, that Carquest Premium Blue looks like a fantastic choice. The only feature missing is the wire backed media. Can beat the value!
