Wrong oil in my 2022 Toyota Sienna?!

I found this on search as I pulled the dipstick on my 2025 Sienna, first thing in the morning, cold, and found it to be above the fill mark, considerably. This happened over a 2 week period while really cold out. I'm thinking this van may need 3000 mile oil changes in the winter. The van has 3600 miles on it, and the first oil change was done at 1000 miles. I drove it in SPORT mode to get it fully warmed up, but it didn't clean anything out.

Is this normal for Hybrid Toyota's? It'll be warm this weekend, so I at least have an opportunity to change it.

Fuel dilution, it’s common

Yes. Dilution is common in cold weather with this platform. We are on our second Sienna Hybrid with the A25A (previous ‘21 was totaled and current is ‘23.) I’ve opted to use good quality 0w-20 oils year round (like Ultra Platinum for example) and Gumout every oil change to combat this. If you go check the used oil analysis sub you’ll find some of my used oil analysis using Pennzoil products. With high levels of dilution the wear numbers still held up well. Even when using heavily diluted 0w-16. I don’t think 3,000 mile OCI intervals are necessary to be honest. I do 5,000 mile without issues or concerns. If anything move up a grade and make sure you’re using quality oils and Top Tier fuel.

I have the same engine in a 2024 Rav4 Prime XSE. I'm currently using 0w-30 oils in it and runs well on them. Check under the oil filler cap for any oil emulsification that looks like mayonnaise. There was a TSB released by Toyota on this. Otherwise enjoy your ride and change your oil closer to 5,000 miles or sooner.
