WORLD CUP 2026 THREAD

for a sport which many don't give a rat's behind about.
In KC ? Maybe so.... Otherwise, take a wild guess at what is the most popular sport in the world. Last WC final games was watched by over a billion people worldwide.
FIFA mandates the removal or covering of all non-official sponsor logos, gambling branding, and naming-rights sponsorships inside host stadiums during the World Cup. This "debranding" requires venues to replace corporate names with geographic ones—like changing AT&T Stadium to Dallas Stadium—to protect the exclusivity of FIFA’s official global partners
No one cares. Cities, facilities, etc were fighting to be host cities and host venues.
While the skill level of top soccer players is off the charts I find soccer can be boring due to the lack of scoring. When a game can end with a score of 1-0 it's hard to stay excited watching it.
Do you think a no-hitter in baseball is boring or exciting ? In football or basketball, and high scoring outcomes, does that mean the defenses suck ?

I've been seeing a lot of viral videos of Europeans on road trips in the USA. Hopefully they're having a great time. The videos suggest they are.
The Scots were having a great time in Boston! Saw them on TV at a game in Fenway and the announcers were saying the crowd was more like a play-off crowd with the amount of energy, cheering and a massive "wave". Couple good shots of the shenanigans later on the news!

The sponsorship thing explains why the list states "Boston Stadium". Boston doesn't have a stadium; we've got Fenway, the Garden (Gaaaden) and Gillette. If the seats are empty tomorrow, its because nobody knows where Boston Stadium is!
