I’m trying to use the media section more, so I posted some photos. They are photos of getting rid of trimmer string that wrapped it self around the head of the Dewalt trimmer and actually entered into the gear box, which I described as the “ flywheel “. The gear of this flywheel meshes with the gear of the electric motor. Please have a look and tell me if I didn’t post the media correctly. Also feel free to post any comments. Thanks. Snag.

I know it's been mentioned to use the media section but if it gets too "Crowded" with pics then it may be harder to find them (pics)? I suppose if one doesn't upload too many photo's then easy to find. In this case you only have two pages of pics showing up & these were populated on the first media page so very easy to find as of right now.

I bought the original 20v Dewalt when it first launched. I didn't like it is the end story. That's no good about what happened to this one. SO were you able to fix it? From the pics looks like you put it back together after removing the offending pieces?

Yes, I got it together after getting the piece of string out and it works fine. The " string" is more like a wire on a Dewalt. I think I "double tapped" to get more string out, but too much came out and wrapped around the gear box just above the spool. The trick was to remove the three screws holding the gear in place, but still it was hard pulling the string out from the gear. I had to wind the string around a pair of pliers and rotate the pliers to give it a huge pulling force.
I guess the trick now is how to find the media I submitted once more media is entered by several more posters. Not sure I'm missing something here.

Good deal, Overall hows it been working for you? These are excellent for smaller yards.

There are no pics.
They are somewhere over in the " Media" section. Thanks.
Click on Snagglefoot's name & click the name handle again. You'll see the media tab to click on & see all the pics.

I'm starting year 8 with it. It's been very good except for the wire stuck in the gear assembly episode. I recently finished my package of 225 ft of genuine Dewalt trimmer string and ordered a new pack from Amazon. I still have the same 5 AH battery and share its duties with a Waitly knock off 5 AH. The batteries don't seem to lose their charge sitting in the heated garage.

Here is a positing from year 6. The time has flown by.

I had that same trimmer. The power control went out under warranty, and then a couple years later, out of warranty. I considered fixing it, but parts are hard to find and expensive. Repurposed the battery for my hammer drill, and bought a ECHO two stroke.
