Yah a good read. I browsed through it and might take another look again soon. I cain't believe many times they avoided being "taxed" simply by getting mad and driving off.

And the cannibalism...goood gawd man!

Wow. 63 pages...I'll need to read the whole thing for sure.

Simply put, it's amazing.

This guy and his wife sold everything to pay for their trip - everything they own is in that Landcruiser.

How many wives would even consider going along for a trip like this?

I will never, ever understand people that go on trips lke this.

Yes, it's an amazing adventure...but when you consider the danger of travelling in countires that are essentially 'lawless', and have very little govt., the chance of something bad happening are just too high.

Africa is the BIGGEST waste of a continent there could possible be!

What kind IDIOT would take take his wife on a trip like this. At least they should have a better understanding of the term "thinning of the herd" if they get into trouble.

Indeed a test of the complete vehicle.

I like the part where they meet some people who's truck broke down in the "road", so they pulled the engine and sent it off for repair. The were excited that the parts were only a few weeks out and acted like it was nothing to have camped out with the vehicle for over a year already...

As for taking the wife, not all wives are frail and delicate little flowers who wish to live on a pedestal. She was no doubt very aware of the dangers and made her own conscious decision to go. It wouldn't be very fair to say "I'm going, but you can't.. It's too dangerous." The danger wouldn't really change or go away if he elected to make her stay at home. It seems they made an excellent team and she had a very important job for the trek. I'd venture to say that without her, it would have been much harder, to almost impossible to do with her.
