Wolverine Pads Bend?

Can anyone who has installed a Wolverine heat pad can tell me if it is flexible enough to make a 45 degree bend on 1/2 inch sticking out . I have a Nissan pan, it has flat 1" spans with large 1/2" grooves. The #9.1 pad is 1.5" wide, thus the 1/2" over lap.

I am wondering if that 1/2" will overlap will adhear into this concave groove. Also, the pad is 125 watts, if I only adhear to flat surface, will I still get 70% of the 125 watss which is 80 watts on 4 litres oil.

I can fit a 3.5" X 1.25" pad on back side flat on oil pan, it would sit flat, only 50 watts and is not centered on pan. Is this better than 125 watt pad not fitting?

Any ideas or knowledge if these pads bend?

I installed one on my vehicle before last winter. It's not a Wolverine (I made it myself from bulk heating pad material). I'm guessing from my experience that it will have to be a pretty flat surface for it to adhere properly. I was lucky on my vehicle (Mazda 3) that there's a pretty flat spot on the pan.

I'm with Paul in thinking that the unadhered part of the pad will burn out if it's not contacting the surface. They seem to get pretty darn hot.

I'd say it would be better if you go with multiple smaller pads that would fit better than one larger one that doesn't.

Thanks, this Nissan pan allows barely enough room for a #4.5 to catch level metal, 1.25" X 3.5", probably bite bullet buying two with extra cost to do work of one #9.1.

Been talking to Wolverine guy on this too, tough pan to get a fit.

I'm not sure the pads will bend that much or not.

My understanding is that if there is any place the pad does not contact the pan it can burn out (short) in that area. My pad is mounted vertically because of some numbers stamped in the bottom of the pan I wanted to avoid. I checked to be sure the oil would be somewhat higher than the upper edge of the pad too.

Also if your pad extends up a fin that is not backed by oil, I wonder if that part of the pad would overheat. May want to talk to the guy at Wolverine. What about 2 or more pads on several sides of the pan? Can plug into a short extension cord that has multiple outlets.
