PP took a big jump this week at my WalMart store. PP in 5Q jugs went to $23.50 and PU went to $28.50 Or $4.70 and $5.70 per quart in the 5Q jugs. Should have bought several PP when it was $20.00

They must be prepping for the holiday crowd. Dang... guess I'll have to wait till Dec 26th to buy oil again...

Probably the gf-5 SN stuff is about to hit the shelves. IMO the price will be up for a bit, while no one buys it at those prices. PU was $25 at the Shawnee KS supercenter. PP was $23.50 and PYB was $14.50 for 5 qt jugs.

Makes sense.. they know they can get it.

Smart.

Noticed it down here too. Makes those AAP monthly specials a lot more special. I refuse to buy oil at Walmart until they pring the prices down.

Walmart PP= $25 + tax
AAP PP= $26.99 + Bosch Distance Plus oil filter
Both 5 qt deals

Yep, that is why both our cars have MC5K in them now since it was only $11.50 for a 5qt jug (not sure why they don't make it in a 5w-20 5 qt jug!)

I bit the bullet and got a jug of PYB SN 5W-30 for $14.50. I didn't feel like wasting another $2-3 in fuel to hunt around town to "save" a dollar.

To be honest, I don't even mind paying slightly more as long as they've got EXACTLY what I want in stock. A dollar here or there isn't going to change my shopping habits.

They do. They have plenty of it here. MC5k is the best dino so I'm going to stick with this bargain. PYB is $14.50 5qt jug here...which equals I won't spend a dime on that!

IMHO average oil prices are just going to continue to go up, just like gas prices have been doing. There will be some fluctuations, but the trajectory is clear. That's one reason BITOG is so useful--keeps me on top of the sales and special offers.

I was just there and decided to go with PP instead of Ultra this time.

Edge: $ 26.50
PP: $ 23.50
Ultra: $ 28.00

I think Mobil 1 was from around $ 22-28.00 depending on formula.

I just got the AAP PP + Bosch Filter deal for my Buick ...For my Hyundai Elantra I use Hyundai filters (fear of quality issues with non - Hyundai filters) which means I am only interested in the best 5 qt. oil deal . More often than not that means WM where my goal is to get the best oil I can (MC Syn Blend , QSUD) at a reasonable price .

QS UD was still $19 at WM on Sunday. Still on eof the better buys in the oil section.

i was in wal mart today to get pennzoil 5w30 and after seeing the prices on their oil i decided to use the conoco phillips i have at the shop...i save even more because when i go to wal mart we wind up spending a couple of hundred dollars on other things also..
as for the ultra 5w20 they have it for $28.00 which is too much and everyone seems to agree because the dust on the containers was pretty thick

I was there just a week ago and the two best synthetic values are the 5 quart jugs of Quaker State Ultimate Durability for $19 and Valvoline Synpower for $21.

I tried Valvoline Synpower 5W-20 for the first time last week, and my Camry Hybrid seems to be operating as smooth as it possibility can. I think I've found my oil and am not switching anymore.

$21 is a roll back price. Will you keep using Synpower when it goes up to $24 or $25?

I didn't know that. I probably would still be using it since I picked up six 5-quart jugs (rebates to two houses from the engine guarantee). In addition, I signed up for that 300,000 miles engine warranty. A few bucks extra for oil change every 4,000 miles is not bad for that engine warranty because I believe it covers the timing chain as well.
