Hey this is a question I've been meaning to ask

Years ago I serviced a circa 1992 Porsche 911 using a Wix filter. I only used a Wix filter because the sale rep was on site and he was chomping at the bit to supply one. The customer bought it back the next day complaining of a gurgling sound and she was right it made a loud gurgling sound from inside the car. The noise of the engine drowned out this noise from under the hood but it did sound like it was coming from the filter. I swapped it for a genuine filter and the noise when away. What could the problem have been? Unfortunately I did not see that customer again.

I service my Dad's 94 911 Speedster and it is normal to hear a little gurgling. In your case, I think there may have been air in there. I usually put in 6 quarts and start the engine and then put in 4 more quarts. I have used Wix, Purolator, Mahle, and Mann oil filters. None seem to be more loud than the other. I think you may have released the air when you put the 2nd filter on and that made the gurgling quiet. Just my guess.
