WIX 57151 / NAPA Gold 7151 cheapened

Just as an FYI, topic filter has been discussed this subforum before in linked thread, same OP. I don't know 'specifically' about the media, but what I can see of the rest of the filter including the compression spring, adbv design with nubs and the element/core, looks pretty much like Wix construction 'to me'. Considering efficiency, which is quite good, most likely media from an outside supplier. Microglass media with silicone adbv from Wix site info, noted in my previous post.

Just to be clear, I never doubted the OP here, it's obvious he knows topic application very well. I was/am just curious to see pics of the changes.

I've never seen or heard of the standard WIX having a wire backed media. And the standard WIX was never rated at 99% @ 18u, but rather 95% @ 20u.

You have a link to the source of this information?
The beta ratio was listed on the wix site. They used a different media for diesels.

It’s hard to get a picture of but you can clearly see the cellulose media in person. Used to be a white synthetic wire backed media as shown in the picture above from when I’ve cut one open in the past.

I found some pictures I took of the old media… this is a standard wix not an XP. This is it vs a motorcraft 2051s

The discussed filter is not the "standard WIX" oil filter for many reasons. But the newly changed version now makes it a "standard WIX".

I believe there's a semantic issue here with exactly what classification the topic Wix OF falls under. As the label/markings shows it is not a Wix XP, which is the name for their synthetic media OF offering. (Also why I was confused on the original thread about topic filter). While topic uses synthetic media making it unique, it still has the label/markings used by standard Wix/(Napa Gold) OF.

Now it would seem, at least based on the media type, it's what most recognize as 'standard Wix labeled.'

It's a unicorn "WIX". Not an XP or a standard WIX even though labeled as such. If WIX used that very efficiency full synthetic media in their XP I'd probably be buying them.
