Wix 57060 cut open

This Wix 57060 was run for 10,008 miles on my brother’s 2016 Ram 1500 Hemi that has 193,688 miles on it if I remember correctly. Ran Mobil 1 5w20 in it, roughly end of September till January 20. No tears, just some waves and excess glue seen.

Truck undercarriage is getting rusty due to Michigan winter salt witnessed by the oil pan which is flaking apart and beginning to weep. Told him he’ll need the oil pan replaced soon

Looks like your brother is getting a lot of mileage out of that Hemi. Perhaps some primer & spray paint will prolong the oil pan investment. Thanks

Just might be beyond that point, its getting real thin. Probably wire brush the remaining portion right off and create a serious leak or even a new drain hole.

Got it... Definitely cheaper replacing then potentially blowing up the motor due to a oil pan leak.

All fun and games till he runs over a squirrel which'll blow a hole in it and turn the lifter ticker into a bucket kicker.

Jokes aside it needs a new pan now not later and that looks like a diesel oil filter with how black it is.

Tell him to cut back a little. That's 8 miles too many for what the bottle says and it shows

I'd probably do 7k instead. It's made it far enough it should be taken care a bit more.

In: 6 quart box Havoline full synthetic 5w20 & 1 quart Mobil 1 5w20.

On: Baldwin B7443; 12 micron nominal, 30 micron absolute per the Baldwin web page. This crosses to the OE Mopar MO-339. The Baldwin B160 appears to be the rock catcher at 40 micron that crosses to the Wix 57060.

He was told a few times 7-8k, he’s hard headed though.

He’ll learn when he has to pay for a new engine.

Those hemis although naturally aspirated and port injected are surprisingly hard on oil because of the high oil temps.

It drops the oil temps by a good amount. Helps to not roast it so bad.

Not sure if it has to do with oil temps, the oil temps on both of mine are well controlled and it still makes the oil filthy. I chalk it up to the HEMI just being a REALLY dirty running engine (hence the need for dual ignition).
