Everyone is using louvers. Everyone is using stamped leaf springs. Presumably to save money.

But they still seem to think glue is free and put it everywhere.

It’s always a good idea to peek inside your filter anyway . We’ve seen leftover metal from thread cutting in filters. Never know if somone stuck something inside at the store or somehow something got inside there. And yea there have been bad louvers at times.

Yep, learn how to read the "chicken bones" (ie, the louvers), lol.

It’s always a good idea to peek inside your filter anyway . We’ve seen leftover metal from thread cutting in filters. Never know if somone stuck something inside at the store or somehow something got inside there. And yea there have been bad louvers at times.

And go a step further and clean up the filter base plate, threads,, etc before installing. I've been dong that for decades, and it only takes 5-10 min tops.
