I know this topic comes up from time to time; but as I went to get some oil today I got thinking about how nice it would be to have a 6 qt jug so when we changed my brother's jeep we could do it off a single jug instead of jug+1.

Being in Canada there are also those hard to find oils too (PU!?!). I just saw some TOTAL 0w40 I might try out soon. But really what I thought would be interesting to know who else hopes father christmas will magically make the right size/brand appear on your local store shelves to make your 2012 oil changes/stash better this year...

Here are a couple off my wish list (probably won't happen, but a wish still the same)
PU - any size!
M1 - 6 qt (5.7L)

I would love to find 6qt jugs. It sucks to buy a jug at such a discounted price then spend 7 bux for 1 dang qt. I do believe the oil companies do this on purpose to get the sale on that added qt

Or maybe most of the cars until recent years all had 5qt sumps or smaller. lol

Thats also a truck engine... not a car though IMO. Look at all the honda, toyota, ford, chevy, dodge...ect cars and they mostly all take 5qts or less.

Pennzoil used to come in 6 quart jugs which was great. But now with the cost most are rethinking even the 5 quart jugs.

Expect 4.5 or even gallon jugs soon. Even though the math is better with 5 quarts a lot of people like the $20 or under number for a jug of syn and around $10 for conventional.

So since they TRIED to sell 4x4 truck oil they should consider a truck pack. Im sure my trucks arn't the only ones on the road that hold 6 quarts+...such as GM trucks. With the extended intervals on the horizon you find higher capacity sumps aswell.

For the car owners it works pretty nice, every 3rd change in the old rice burner youll have enough oil to do the change already in the garage.

The 4.7l V8 in Rams holds 6 qts and the 5.7l V8 holds 7.
Heck the 3.5l V6 in my Charger also takes 6.

I think the duramax's in our fleet take around 10 (but again that's a truck and a diesel too.)I'd have to check though to be sure.

But really, even if it makes no financial sense for oil companies to make the 6qt...I'd like to see it all the same - that's what makes it a wish list item. Who knows maybe someday when sumps are bigger and extended drains become the norm (not just for the BITOGer's) the wish would come true-

Still wondering are there other brands/sizes you wished was more readily available where you are?

I still don`t understand the "5+" quart jugs. Makes no sense. Why not just make them in an even US measurement (i.e. 5 quart, etc).

Because we are going to the metric system and 5L is= 5.28 qts.

I think the current sizing works well... Id like to see more availability of 5w-20 and 5w30 HM oils, more HDEO selection, 0w-xx oils, and other brands of anti-freeze besides house brand and prestone.

I'm not so sure about that Bill.
At least in this area, both Meijer and Kmart went through a costly closeout of all of the gallon jugs of PCMO in stock to switch over to 5.1 qt jugs.
I loaded up on Synpower and Maxlife SB, to take advantage of both the clearance pricing and Valvoline's engine guarantee MIR.
I don't see any retailer going back to four quart jugs anytime soon, although if this were to happen, we'd probably see clearance pricing of the 5.1 qt jugs, which would be okay.

My wish list would be that Mobil1 would package the 0W-40 in 1 and 5 liter containers, and sell them at MalWart prices. Would make my 6.5 liter changes that much easier and I wouldn't have to hoard oil or mess with MIR.

With popularity of M1 0W-40, and how many vehicle apps it now meets, why it isn't available in multi-quart containers is beyond me.
