2014 navigator oil change

I mix everything in our '08 5.4 3V and have been since chain rattle in 2020. A little 15W40 HDEO, some 10W40, 10W30 and a dash of 20W50? Sounds good to me.

That said, if you're concerned about oxidation from a leak, I dunno.....maybe?

I did it today. Couple of observations…
1. The quick change place really tightened down everything. I had to get a long wrench and a hammer to budge the drain plug.
2. The 5 quart container* seemed to fill it. I’ll check it in a day or two after a little running. **

* found an intact container of Pennzoil platinum 0w20 that I used.
** roofers showed up a day early and were rushing me

99% sure you're two qts low. The interweb says 7 qts for the 5.4 in a '14 Navigator. This has been my experience with pretty much all full-size truck 5.4 3Vs. I think you get the 4V? but it appears crankcase capacity did not change.

I think you’re right but I’d rather be low at first and add than overfill. When I can let it warm up again, I’ll check it again (and probably add).

Finally got out to be able to check today. You are (were) right. It was just over two quarts in fact. When I pulled the dipstick today it didn’t even really register. Was so rushed and had no light to really see the dipstick as I was finishing, it may well have been the same and I saw it wrong. It’s filled correctly now and looks line I got everything in place correctly (ie no leaks).

Just to add, since I found oil to use, I used a tiny bit of the “holey Pennzoil” to top up. There was just 3 quarts that hadn’t leaked out before I saw the tiny leak. I’ll probably get rid of the remains two quarts in the bottle.

I’ll use the oil I bought for this for my upcoming Bronco 2.7L change instead.
