Wiper blade replacement options 2011 Malibu?

My stepfather was complaining the OEM beam wiper blades were noisy/chattering, especially with light rain. What would you recommend?

I'd recommend using a very strong glass cleaner because I don't really think it's the wipers.

I think the windshield is coked with road grime.
regular car washing doesn't remove all of it.

You also can't see it either, but it's there.

I've used Nu-Finish car polish on my glass and it removed the grime, and does not scratch/swirl the glass.

You could also use a non gel type toothpaste, like Colgate.

I think that may be the problem. He never cleans his window and spent winter in Arizona. He has a brush to knock the dust off the car. Can I use Bon Ami to clean the window or is the Nu-Finish better?

In addition, chatter can be from an incorrect angle of the wiper arm, road grime, or not enough lubricant (water) between the wiper and windshield.

I replace my wipers every year with Ancos from Walmart. Blades are in a harsh environment & degrade quickly. There's nothing like a quiet, clean wipe with the new ones.

That sounds nice, but cars with beam blades tend not to have pin or hook connectors found on conventional blades.

Anyway, I used some Bosch ICON blades which only have a connector specific to the car. They work extremely well.

I never thought Bosch would make a good replacement wiper blade.

I would just replace the wiper rubber insert and retain the OEM wiper blades.

I just put a set on my friend's malibu and he got them from costco for 7.99 each. They did come with the correct clip to mount them on those odd wiper arms and work very well. Can't beat the price for beam wiper blades. Have a set of those same Goodyear wiper blades on my car that have been on it for three years now and still good as new so they do last. I would try to clean the windshield very well first and if you plan to replace them then costco will probably be the cheapest place to get new blades.

Tenderloin, thanks for the link! I ordered a set of Anco Contour. I have used them with success before. I will use the Bon Ami on the window. Thanks for all the ideas.
