No magnet that I recall. Lever them up with a screwdriver a bit and then pop it out with piece of wire. Slide out with a another tool I made out of wire, mic it, record, put it back, repeat 8x, check all the clearances, do math, figure what i need and what can be swapped around, email my shim guy and swap everything around, check work and done.


Reason I asked was if any of the shims got magnetized either by using a magnet to remove them or by use of a magnetized tool, it can easily attract fine iron particles that, once the engine is operated, can wipe out a love pretty quick. Some aftermarket shims can do this too if the shim material is harder than the lobe. I've seen a few motorcycle cams wiped out because of the above.
