Received a robo-call with a robo-voice telling me that my "Windows license key has expired and all services are suspended. Please call ....... to reinstate".

HA!

I get a live person saying they are from Microsoft, and that my computer has been reporting errors to them. Been getting these calls randomly off and on for a few years now. Sounds like somebody from India. Can hardly understand them. I just tell them I have all Mac computers, so they are wrong. The still persist, but I just hang up.

I tell them the same, usually say I have a mac. When they don't believe me, I just tell them I network administrator and to stop scamming people. Then they just hang up.

But lately my phone spam filtering has been working pretty well. I'm just surprised that they leave a voicemail with a number to call back.

I'm just glad they caught the IRS scammer.

Someone else almost fell for the brother in trouble, need money right away scam. Luckily for her, her brother was in a different city and she said she couldn't go there tonight and then it slowly dawned on her it was a scam.

They called our IT desk at work a few months back. One of the techs put the guy on speaker phone and messed with him for a while.

Seemed to be a flakey VOIP connection from India.

He kept transferring him to a level 5 engineer, then a level 6 engineer lol.

Older client about 3 weeks ago. Call, "Hi, ATT here. Sorry, but we have been overcharging you for an antivirus (McAfee) that is supposed to be free for ATT customers. If I can get your bank account info from one of your checks, we can refund you $79 today." Well, you know where that went. $1600 gone and two bounced checks later, .............

When I get these calls I tell them that I'm taking my computer immediately down to the local computer repair shop to have it looked at or updated. It's a riot to see them try to keep me from doing that....lol.

I play along, telling them that I am following their instructions, and keep them on the line as long as possible. When they finally see they are getting nowhere, I ask them how they can sleep at night knowing they are hurting innocent people.

I play along with them taking up their time, making them wait a while as I tell them someone is at the door, they do wait .Finally, "acting" like an imbecile who doesn't know a return key from a space bar. They eventually get PO'd and hang up.

When I got the call last week I just wasn't in the mood to play. I just told him right off that he was a (f)blankety-blank liar! When he tried to protest, I told him I didn't have a computer. He was gone immediately.

I got one of these calls. I told him my computer was mounted on my riding lawnmower, so i could use the internet while mowing. I told him the only way i could power up the computer was to fire up the lawnmower, but then i would be unable to hear him on the phone. He finally gave up after about 5 minutes of this back and forth.

Whenever I get a call from an actual person, that wants to sell me something, I tell them that they want to speak to my wife, ask them to hold please, then set the phone down but not hang up. After about 5 minutes I pick it up and ask if they're still there and, believe it or not, I've had some still waiting. My wife thinks I'm mean and usually hangs the phone up for me.

i laugh at them and tell them i am running Linux, then one tried to tell me it was infected with a virus, and that i had to have them sweep my computer for a small fee.
LOL yeah ok.

This time the robo-call with the robo-voice talked only to my robo-answering machine, not me. First time I'd every heard this scam before.

When my last cat was still alive, I'd let her take calls I unfortunately answered I shouldn't have. "Wait while I transer you to 'she who must be obeyed'". I'd just lay the handset down on her fuzzy, kitty, purring belly and see how long it took them to figure it out. Quickly changed my annoyance to a big, smiling grin!

"Hello?.....Helllll-oh????? PPPpppprrrrrrrrrrr.....zzzzzzzzz....ngk...ngk..." .........

Best receptionist ever!

We had our landline in our dogs name for years, and that number was unlisted. We would get calls for Jasmine, our dog, at least a few times a month. No idea how they were getting our number, but I would tell them if you can talk to a dog be my guest.

If it isn't that,

it's the extended vehicle warranty. Wife told me she took a call yesterday and the caller was offering an extension on the 76 Malibu we last owned in 1985. Where do those scammers come up with that information?
