I Thought they still had open recalls for airbags?
Aren't auto workers already some of the highest paid, if not THE highest paid workers of any industry? If they get what they're asking for, I think they're shooting themselves in the foot. The already insanely overpriced vehicle market will be driven to even higher prices, meaning fewer people will be able to afford to buy new, which will result in auto workers being laid off. That's my theory anyway...Not really anti-union but these guys are out of control with their 32 hour work week and big raises. They already have the best healthcare in America except for US Congressmen and Representatives. Mr. Fain reminds me of a IRA terrorist and a grade school bully. No respect for anyone who acts like he does. I know he is being paid to act this way, but nice gets you respect.
Where is that filter made?Idk but a mopar air filter for a 6.7 Cummins is 84$ at the dealership.. a year ago from this time they’re like 50$
I wonder how much the strike hurts
The defined benefit pension isn't reasonable. Nobody who doesn't have a government job has one.https://apnews.com/article/uaw-strike-ford-gm-stellantis-75015ef1a27439218b44b24f58227d62
4 day work week is not realistic from UAW, all other demands are within reason.

Well PutI am a proud union member, but in a different industry (Hvac Pipefitting). My union is a FAR cry from being anything like the UAW. I believe that my union is a good one, that actually provides benefits to the employer.
In my opinion, the UAW is giving all unions a black eye. Union membership has been steadily shrinking for decades, and the UAW's behavior is only serving to get more people to be against them.
Their goal shouldn't be to hold the American auto industry hostage and milk them dry.
Normal cost of living increases and other reasonable requests I'm fine with. Trying to completely bend them over just because they think they can, that gives the perception that they are greedy and that they don't deserve anything that they're asking for.
What the UAW (and many other unions) fail to understand is that they and their employers ARE ON THE SAME TEAM.
They shouldn't be trying to sink the ship.
Like I said, I like being union and I wish more people were, but it's hard to get behind what the UAW is trying to do here.
Im with you, we cant have people screwing in light bulbs with a ged making 80k a year @ 35hours a week. Plus bennies and Vaca. No wonder trucks are 80k now…It's time for the Big 2 1/2 to tell Mr. Fain that they are no longer union shops. In four months they could hire and train new workers. Seems like this is going to last that long. By then the union guys would start coming back as they need to eat. This nonsense needs to end. Again, I will say that if Mr. Fain talked to me that way there would be no negotiations until he apologizes and resigns. IMO YMMV
its too separate topics. I agree the CEO’s dont deserve such high salary if transformational change decisions are not made that progress the business / concept further into the profit margin and enhance the product. Intangible value based on decisions a CEO makes is an abstract concept.Record profits over the last few years for manufacturers, dealers and everyone involved...but the folks assembling them are expected to make peanuts. How is that reasonable?

Management is tough. The issues arise when management and the managed are too far apart technically or fiscally. My dad used to say the man who knows why will always be the boss of the man who knows how.
