Just got back from a long trip to AK with our RV, so we were around alot of RV's of all types during this time. Most of these were newer on Ford's E-Series chassis with the 7.3L. On startup those engines are LOUD and kinda sound like they have a cam at least for a few seconds. This wasn't just one but at least 20 I've heard. I'm surprised stock these are that loud. Not complaining just really surprised. I don't recall the 6.8L's being that loud. What's Ford's strategy on this? I haven't heard the F Series.

If it wasn't for the Chevy white paint would have me rethinking the Chevy chassis with 6.6L... I like stealth and not waking up everyone around me.

They definitely build them on the F series but most people go the cheapo route and get a E450 ( Re badged E350 with stiffer springs ) no frame difference from the other E series lineup

F Series far more capable of holding up for the long haul ..... just peek up under one it's like comparing something from the mid 70s to a brand new F550 plus it won't drag high center just pulling out of driveway just my opinion

For heavy duty vans go GM G4500 for the front suspension alone

I'm probably the only person who likes them, but you won't find a more durable independent front than the Ford twin i-beam

People are confusing the F series with the F-53 motorhome chassis I think.

Most of those are the F450-650 and have the diesels. Haven’t seen any that isn’t but it could be possible. Being higher would have its advantages.

Ours is on a 3500 chassis and feathers the tires the same. Really comes down to getting a good alignment tech.

I had a 26' Uhaul last year with the 7.3 and yes, it was loud. I was impressed with it though, good power through the hills.
How high did it rev? The 6.0L Chevy will pull hills but have to rev it to the moon.. sounds like a Opra winger on a high note. Having to hear that constantly wears a person out.

Honestly pretty high when fully loaded. I picked up a 15 ft trailer for the last several hundred miles and it was always maxed out on grades. A couple of them my max speed was around 38mph👀

Felt a little stronger than the V10 I rented a few years earlier

Funny this topic came up because I stumbled upon this today. I don't care how awesome the 7.3 is -- bring this anywhere in the western half of CO and you're hating life

Always liked the grunt of the v10.. wasn’t a high rpm engine but did the job.

I’ve been around Colorado.. anything above a car or unloaded truck you’re hating life. I70 at the end to Denver is quite a test or any rig.
