Will a universal rear view mirror fit my Hyundai 2016 GT?

My wife has the car 600 miles away and a problem has developed. The rearview mirror mounts to a metal button/shoe that is glued to the windshield. Problem is the mirror mount is made of plastic and was a loose fit on the button/shoe. Now the plastic mount [slips over shoe] has cracked, and of course, the mirror will not stay in place.

I see that Autozone sells a universal mirror that looks good and very similar. Does anyone know if the metal button/shoe that is glued to the windshield is some kind of standard size? Will a universal mirror from Autozone slip onto the Hyundai mount?

I agree that it might. Since the original mirror fell off anyway, take it into the store to compare with the new mirror's mounting shoe.

The picture you posted is of a wedge mount. It’s a standard size. If you never want to replace it again, get yourself a Donnelly 240 - the base that receives the mount is metal. Everyone from Chrysler to Toyota has put the Donnelly 240 in a car at some point so you should be able to find one cheap on eBay.

The above recommendation is presuming you didn’t have an autodimming mirror with a wire running to it. Although the common ones there are Gentex and Magna, also with metal bases that don’t really break.
