Good morning folks,

I bought a Stihl FS40C curved shaft back in 2015. It has served us pretty good. I do need to clean the spark arrestor once in a while. My oldest son learned on it, then wife used it, & now our next son that just turned 12 yrs will be using it. My wife has been telling me to get her another weed eater, as a result, so she can continue working. What's a husband to do?

Go checkout the new Ace Hardware store that just opened up in a previous grocery store building.

They stock plenty of tools. 😃

They had a row of weed eaters but naturally we gravitate towards the Stihl brand. Wife picked up a few different models. One being a FS 56 with bike handles, and then an FS91, but it wasn't the best deal IMO. The 91 having 28 cc engine at 12.8 lbs and FS 131 36 cc at the exact same 12.8 lbs. The 131 was $200 more bones but had 1/3 more power at the same weight!

Came with double shoulder straps and the wife approved.

$40 Pink colored ear protection
$629.99 FS131
$40 Motomix to get "extended warranty"

I got to use it first and let me tell you.. it has a lot more power to get the tall grass down much easier that that small FS40C. 😅

Here's the old and new... I'm thrilled but still giving wife more time to see how she likes it.

Wait - you leave a hitch on that LT? I’m starting a thread bcs we have not covered that yet 😷

Awesome unit. Congrats on the purchase.

I’ve bought a lot of Stihl equipment lately. A KM91 power head, straight shaft trimmer accessory and just a SH56 shredder vac. I do like my Stihl.

I'm just not seeing my wife ever asking for a new weed whacker. That's a special woman you have there.
You're a smart mind! That is 100% correct! 15 year anniversary coming up. She knows she's taken care of by me as a result.

Side note: While we're talking about the wife. She's like 5'1 or a spec more and what really surprised me was how well balanced this weed eater is for her height. We did need to slide the handles down a wee bit because she maxed out the shoulder strap tightness.

Nice, another note is we are going from 11.5 ounce fuel tank to 24 ounces. It appears yours is the bigger one as well. What is the tube? Grease?

Yes, there’s a screw that comes out on the string trimmer head and this grease tube screws in. Guy in sales said every 3-4 trimmings give it a touch. He said he’s seen some never greased and they live forever and some the opposite. The grease was cheap under $8. He said a tube would last a lifetime.

And yes this tank is pretty large. I have cut for a couple hours so far and am just now needing to fill up.

Interesting, we've used the durocut heads but I have no idea if it takes said grease. 🤔

We've been using the old weed eater head for 11 yrs no with no trouble so I'll assume it's okay.

I just got a new weed eater this year too but got the Echo SRM-225. It's still in near mint condition because weed eating is one of my least favorite things to do. It's sort of like getting a new shovel LOL. Stihl IMO makes the best equipment, though.
