Wife away on retreat - what shop items to clean in dishwasher

I once cleaned my wheels and tires in the upstairs bathtub as a teenager 😄 parents weren’t home, and the wheels and tires sure looked nice afterward! Not sure on my reasoning but I think it was because I wanted to wash them in hot water instead of cold water from the hose.

@Donald, did you intend to post this in the comedy section? You really don't intend on washing shop tools and engine parts in the same dishwasher that, as @Jimmy_Russells points out, the plates and silverware that you eat off of, are washed in?

If yes, if I ever find myself in your neck of the woods and get to meet with a fellow BITOG member, I'll be sure to go out for a bite with you, rather than having a meal at your house.

Things like this, is why it is no surprise that the average life span of women is longer than that of men. 🤔

I mean this sincerely - nothing in my shop would benefit from prolonged exposure to hot soapy water.

Maybe some of your plastic boat parts as you mentioned, but even then, I would degrease them and wash them outside, or perhaps in the kitchen sink, where you can control the exposure, the temperature, and be certain that they’re clean, and that they didn’t contaminate your wife’s dishwasher.

A stainless steel sink cleans up pretty well.

This can’t be a serious question. I’ve got two stacking tool boxes full of tools and all of them still have grease from 1979-1998 on them. I always wipe my tools down, but I’ve never washed them.
