Why the Maintenance Dose?

You have just finished with a cleaning and rinse applications, to clean up the motors internals with respect to harmful deposits, but you are really stopping at third base.
Early on with Auto-Rx we had suggested running a clean and rinse cycle every 25,000 miles to keep a motor deposit free. Over the last 3 years we have realized that it is more effective to run a smaller dose of Auto-Rx with each oil change.

In addition to keeping your motor’s vital internals clean, Auto-Rx has shown to reduce wear, as well as providing for a lower coefficient of friction than that of motor oil alone. With just three fluid ounces ( four if sludge issues) in the sump, enhanced lubrication is provided as well fuel efficiency. So why wait utilizing the Auto-Rx benefits every 25,000 miles, when you can have it working every time you turn the key.

The maintenance dose has shown excellent results through used oil analysis, with both conventional oil runs and full synthetic oil, with extended drains.

In my experience just because you do a clean and rinse or maybe 2 cleans and 2 rinses your engine is not totaly clean, it was not until I was on my 2nd Maintenance Dose that I was able too get 1000 miles out of an oil filter, I could be wrong but I feel that it takes maybe your 2nd or 3rd Maintenance Dose too get everything out and keep the gains that you have achieved, remember Auto-Rx works slowly but it does work. I started Auto-Rx at 343,000 miles and now I am up too 357,500 and I am hoping everything will be totally clean by 363,000 miles, that will be 20,000 miles with Auto-Rx working its magic, the engine keeps running better so I will let the Maintenance Dose of Auto-Rx do its stuff.

I am running a rinse phase now. Can someone tell me how to know if your oil filter is plugged up? I read that on here a lot and I am not really sure how it is done. Help??

Very hard to determine with it on the car. Some have said that they can feel how hot it gets, but many filters have a closed end bypass valve ..so that would throw that out the window if this was the case. The best move, imo, if you have an [censored] high sludge condition is just to replace the filter at 500 miles. Look at it. If you have the soft type sludge that will physically fill a filter, you'll see the goo in it. You MAY be able to pour liquid out of it. If you see that type of residue in your filter, plan on changing it again in 500 miles. Repeat until you don't see that occur.

The harder, tar like deposits typically take a bit longer, hence they don't physically saturate a filter as quickly. They will load it, but not render it totally useless in too short a mileage.

Well, I'm going to drop my oil with Auto RX in it, my cleaning phase, Thursday evening at the race track. This is a diesel 7.3 PSD with 252k on it.

I just picked up some extra filters. Based on some of everyone's experience, a 500 mile filter change would be reasonable?

Looking forward to some ideas on this, not something that needs to be on the Auto RX site. Hoping to share some reasonable results over time too.

The most it can cost you is a filter. Let us know what you can pour out of it. Can you cut it open?

I can cut it open, sure. Changed my filter halfway through my cleaning phase because my mileage just seemed low. I have pictures, but I don't have any previous comparisons of filters from my bus.

I'll probably cut this one open too, final filter of cleaning phase, then rinse filters. I'm curious.
