Why so much hate??

My fav,,,,,MY CAR LOVES IT, this has stirred silliness. My van, has no pulse either, lol. Ok, I digress. oh,,speaking of digress, there are few in here that if u change a subject or take a rabbit trail,,,they have fits and other problems. I think the folks that throw fits in here, must have wives that dont let them speak what they think at home, Im just saying. thats comes under the term Hen Pecked.

Some are just passionate about their oils. They don't just look at the simple SL, SM or SN or the 0w30, 5w30, 10w30 they look at the specific oil specs. They look for the VI, K40, K100, HTST, etc.... and they decide which oil is the best for their application.
Then you add in the UOAs that are done and people start to realize how an oil reacts in certain motors and situations, thus the recommendation by most to run M1 ow40 or GC in VQ motors since they seem to shear the spec 5w30 to a xw20 in a few k which may not be the best for wear metals.

I've expressed dislike for some oils and stated my reasons why but due to some responses from some here, I've had a change of heart for some of those. The biggest one is M1. I used to feel it was suspect but I've come to see the light. Yes, I'm talking about the plain M1 5w30 that gets a lot of flak online

ive seen some threads one could use the term hate in a lose manner, heck ive been involved in some. As you can see in my signature i like edge, and edge seems to be "hated" on here by many and i assume its because edge is owned by BP wich is obviously disliked due to spill, and i look at that as very narrow minded. I also get "hated on" in the OPE section, as i ran a large OPE dealership for many many years and i give straight from the hip honest experienced advice down there. Yet i get regarded as a dip [censored] salesman, tho i nearly have carple tunnel due to filling warranty claims from a few brands, and when ppl ask about them brands i call them out and tell the truth. but then theres that one guy whos had one for a few yrs without problem, and there goes the argument. and im trying my best to post less on here, because the knowledgable posts have really declined and ive yet to be on here quite a yr, i lurked for a long time, and most you read is this oil vs that oil, yeah thats gonna spark argument based soely on opinion

Thanks for pointing it out. You are just new and it seems a bit much. After some time if you choose to spend time here, you will see it is just wind and has no importance. Almost never is a point really made with any real proof. It is like you are listening to a bunch of fat guys in a diner. IMHO. But you can learn something ever so often, deals on oil, new info on current oils etc. About 6% of what you see here contains that, so it pays to take time, ever so often.

This site is called BITOG, which means BOB IS THE OIL GUY, the site for us oil fanatics, we love to debate everything about motor oil, we all have our favorite motor oil, maybe some members had a favorable or unfavorable experience with a certain motor oil.
It is not so much hate, but then again it could be seen that way, we all have fun here, and we love to debate.

I love to debate! And I have my personal brands I like more than others, but if I can get a good deal on any PCMO I will use it. One thing that will get to me everytime is the preception that synthetic is better because it is synthetic and this goes for people using modern car's with a modern working cooling system that live where the tempature may get hot. Synthetic must be used along with a heavier oil. With a proper modern properly working cooling system your engine tempature will not run any hotter than a same engine is 70 degrees, unless you are in a constant idle. It will take longer for your engine to cool down after shutdown but what does that do with motor oil? I also get irked when someone states that they will not use a 20WT oil because it does not protect as well as a 30WT oil.
I have no problem with healthy debate or with reasoned opinions. Even bias is fine if the person seems cognizant that that's what it is. The only thing that annoys me (and I don't mean to imply that I dwell on these things) is when someone drops in a thread for no purpose other than to mindlessly add that "I won't use that company's oil". If these insipid people have nothing of substance to add, I have no interest in their posts.
This is all in good fun. I am a full synthetic nut who thinks Castrol has committed fraud on the motoring public. Others see a hydro-cracked Group III listed as a fullly synthetic as a non-issue. In the end have a sense of humor,put your money down and take your pick. I like Group IV/V motor oils.
My favorite oil is the free after rebate kind, after that the less than $1 a quart kind, then the synthetics come last (they're EXPENSIVE!)!

There is only two products that have reached the level of "hate" here. One is unfairly smeared for some nonexistent reason, the other can be rationally explained.
Fram OCD is hated, and most everyone will point to cardboard and shoddy construction. You can choose to agree or not, but the reasoning is present.
RP oil, OTOH, is one of the best products sold. However, people some how use tortured logic to blame it for anything and everything. I have read "it makes my 1983 Dodge with 350K miles car run rough" and other idiocies like that.
I don't know if all the RP haters put together have even a single brain cell amongst them.

+1 Some people have favorites or loyalty to particular brands of oil. All big name oils are great today and will give you what you need for your vehicle. Hate is not here.....spirited disagreements......yes!
