Why so many new Nissans & Hyundais on the lot but few Toyotas & Hondas?

There are people who don't look at mechanical etc build but rather appearance and features so new Rogue may appeal to more people while new Tucson may not.
We didn't consider vehicles with CVT at all, wanted engines with good track record, no hybrids or EVs, good rear seat leg room and good trunk space, Rav4 had better rear leg room and a bit larger trunk, gets better fuel economy, NA engine, 8-sp auto TX.

Hybrid Toyotas are still in short supply. Non hybrid Toyota's are not in short supply.
Lexus dealer told me they wish they Lexus would make and send them more hybrids and far less pure ICE. And customers are asking for 300 mile range Lexus EVs, which do not exist.

Same story had for the Prius most of its life.

During the up years when people wanted them Toyota always limited production , then on the down years they ended up with regional incentives.

Toyota’s “in house” battery production is not competitive enough to produce 300 mile range EVs.

They do it on purpose with Siennas. It got much better, but still there is a wait time (like 6+ month) and you can find them at msrp. During Covid and just a year ago it was 1.5-2 year wait time and $20k+ markups and gimmicky add-ons were common. Used vans were more expensive than new, because you could get them right now. People say it is still hard to find lower/cheaper trims, but if you want to shell out 55K for on one in top trims ,they will gladly find you one…
Kia had same problems, but they did rapidly ramp up production when they got opportunity. As a result a lot of people looking for Sienna went Carnival route (it is a nice van, just lacks hybrid and less reliable).

Bought a new Odyssey last month. Fortunately we liked it more on the test drive than the Sienna. Toyota acted like you were lucky to step foot in their dealership. When we cross shopped these two back in February Toyota had a $5k markup on it. Odysseys are getting easier to find…but you will likely be paying close to sticker..seems most dealers have anywhere from 5-10 on the lot at a time but they sell at the same pace they get them. Used van prices are in crazy land - decided to buy new and keep for 15 years and maintain it by the book.

2 dealerships within 10 miles of me. 0 Corollas of any trim level in stock.

Within the same radius you can get Elantras and Sentras in every trim level.

Just built a 2024 Tacoma Hybrid Trailhunter on Canada Toyota website. At list, 97k otr.
Without dealer addons or extended warranties.
Built in Canadian $, but wow.

$97,000....

Yeah, I forgot about the new Tacos. Toyota does have some higher trim levels/prices on their trucks, but at the same time it might be an advantage that their trucks are not 90% of their business like other automakers…
