Toyota Tacoma sales crater YoY Q1 2024

If the Nissan has any sort of Locker/,Suedo LSD in the rear AND front, I missed it. Last I read, they were open front differential...
The Tacoma has better resale value.
The Tacoma has WAY better aftermarket support.
The Taco has a manual transmission available.
The Tacoma can actually u turn inside a city block.
The Tacoma in 4wd trim will go places, with its front suedo LSD that the Nissan drivers just will not go.
At less than 8sec 0-60mph and a 16 second 1/4, it's quick enough. If I want a faster offroader I'd get a TRX.
Your lack of knowledge means you shouldn't bash things you don't know much about. Like saying your bed is larger than a Frontier when there the same size.

Pro4X comes with a rear locker standard. All 4WD versions have the ABLS on 4 wheels and it works very well. Nissan has been refining it for years going back to much older gens.

The taco turning radius is 1.5 feet less than the Frontier, but its also much more than the last gen Taco. So?

Frontier manual transmission is available in certain trims. Enough people complained that Nissan finally said no one buys them anyway so quit complaining.

I am glad your happy with your new truck.

When the '24s were announced last year (May-ish 2023?), I thought I'd be interested in getting a 2-door Xtra cab, maybe even a Prerunner Xtracab. Over a year later, I have never seen an Xtracab on a lot. I'm not a fan of the short 5' beds, need at least 6'. Right now, I'd probably go with a king cab Frontier, maybe.

Same problem where I live. Was looking at maybe getting one but the four dealers near me had nothing I wanted. 90% of what was in stock and coming in were SR5 double cab short beds. Not interested in that configuration.

I think some visualization is very much called for in this thread
I was thinking more along these lines:

i love my simple preowned lo mile 2011 Fronty V-6, 6spd MANUAL 4 WD + a real box with extended cab, at 76 YO prolly my LAST.

Are you certain about that? I got excited and went to the website but only found the 9 speed automatic.
Well if they finally killed it wouldn’t surprise me. I thought you could still get the S and Sv ? In a sports car I understand a manual. For off road the factory transfer cases are way too high geared for a manual so honestly I have no interest in a manual whatsoever.

The Tacoma now has turbos, a 4 banger that nobody asked for, a weak drive-line, looks pig ugly in person, and a nice eye watering price tag. Hard, Pass.
Not sure anyone asked for turbo 4-bangers on the Ranger and the Colorado/Canyon either. It's where all these mid size trucks are headed. Might as well get used to it. As far as the looks, everyone has different tastes. Prices are high on all of them although Nissan seems to be lowest for what you get.

There’s a bunch on the local lot here. Maybe 14? I looked at each and every one of them. I would have no problem with the 4T. The front end just looks weird. They finally have rear disc brakes. Coil sprung rear suspension should be an improvement. The dimensions of the tires fit oddly in the wheel wells.

The price tag is amazingly laughable. Maybe they all are today? 46k for a cloth seat truck without heated seats?

Recently bought a new 2024 Ranger with the 2.3L Ecoboost whose engine I like a lot more than the 3.6L Pentastar I have in my Gladiator.

Looked at the new 2024 Tacoma's also, but they are too proud of them and comparing apples to apples feature/trim wise, they wanted almost $5K-$6K more. Hard to find the value in them.

I rented a 2022 4x4 for about a week. I really liked it. I would be concerned about Ford's reliability but the truck was very nice.

Rumor has it that the outgassing of the Cambodian hard plastic that is 60% of the Tacoma's vehicle build, is causing males to have swelling of their mammary glands and uncontrolled emotions that lead to crying and sniveling with a propensity for rom-com's and daytime television drama's . That's what the internet say's and it is the bedrock of truth.
Next came clear coated primer 😶‍🌫️

The achilles heel is the 10 speed auto's. They seem to be pretty well sorted by now though. With Gladiator and the Pentastar, it was the valvetrain.

Toyota's use to be all around reliable, boring but still reliable. Not so much anymore.
