That's odd. It was the exact same process as Toyota when I ordered a Lexus GX550 last month. They said they can't do a specific vehicle to customer order. I had to buy a Land Cruiser while I'm waiting to see what kind of Overtrail+ they build me.
Did they get the transmission issues taken care of on the Tacos?
Toyota’s idea they will sell me a $1500 auto tranny in a Tacoma with another $8-10,000 of options I don’t want, in a color i don’t like, because it’s sitting on their lot…The idea that you can jedi-mind-trick them into making a stripped down stick shift version... they won't do it in this market.
Ford enjoyed success a few years back with custom orders because they "hooked" customers into waiting six months... Ford needed the wait for logistics reasons, so it worked for everyone.
I actually was able to kinda sorta order a Toyota. The salesman took my info and what I was interested in and a few months later they called me that a close match came in.
The salespeople may have told you they "ordered" these but they didn't. Toyota "allocated" each dealer a match or a close match or the dealers found models at another dealer and did a swap. I know the GM at a local dealer and when we were looking for a Grand Highlander, he explained the whole "no ordering" and allocation system to us. They get what Toyota sends them or they look at what other dealers are receiving and call them to swap (they won't do this with Toyota dealers in the same metro area though). He said he has a customer that was waiting (at the time) for almost 24 months for a Toyota Sienna with certain options and a specific color. We ordered our 2022 4 Runner TRD Pro. We went to our dealer and chose color, options, everything. We waited 9 months for it. Ackerman Toyota in St. Louis.
Let us know how strongly they work on keeping you as a customer or try and stop you from going elsewhere !won’t do for this customer. If they don’t want my $50,000 …I’ll move on.
100%Not sure but I do know some dealers just want to sell you what they already have on there lot.
Exactly what option set do you want?Toyota’s idea they will sell me a $1500 auto tranny in a Tacoma with another $8-10,000 of options I don’t want, in a color i don’t like, because it’s sitting on their lot…

You know they haven’t bothered me with phone calls, emails, nothing. That’s fine with me. Now how can I get rid of the extended warranty jerks?Let us know how strongly they work on keeping you as a customer or try and stop you from going elsewhere !![]()
The truck I wanted is definitely build able with nothing at all unusual other than the transmission which is a small percentage of their builds.Exactly what option set do you want?
Sometimes models with certain options don't exist. Even if they say they do online, they don't always. If you want one option group, you must get the other group that goes with it.
Nissan is no different. Unsure about Ford or GM anymore.
I took a quick look and they don't exist. At least not now. And Toyota won't build one, again at least not now. Maybe in the future years. The truck I wanted is definitely build able with nothing at all unusual other than the transmission which is a small percentage of their builds.
Basically: Sport 4x4 manual, color/wind chill pearl
Wind chill pearl is an “optional color” $495 on the Toyota site on the sport as are several other colors …not a special TRD Pro paint. I would be happy with a “similar” truck, but an SR or off road isn’t similar enough.I took a quick look and they don't exist. At least not now. And Toyota won't build one, again at least not now. Wind Chill Pearl is a Premium color. You can only get in a Limited. Possibly you get it in a TRD pro but none exist here. This is pretty common with Pearl colors - they don't put them on lower trims, because if you MUST have that color, there pretty sure you will pay. And if they put them on a lower trim, it degrades the colors value. They had a special blue on a Tundra only available on the TRD Pro, and one year they put it on a lower trim and the internet was irate. All the guys that way overpaid to get that color were very upset.
The manual is pretty rare but do exist.
It appears all TRD Sports get the Multimedia upgrade. This is also pretty common. There only putting the base infotainment in the base trims. They say its an "option" but it likely really isn't.
So your looking at $45K give or take as MSRP.
If you want a base model, no additional options, you need to buy a SR, at least for now. But it also doesn't look like your getting a manual in a SR - at least not here. Maybe next model year?
Well, I'm sure he's not alone... It may not be this year or next, but I'm sure someone in marketing knows there is a market for a barebones manual Tacoma, so when the sales to the "manual tacoma at any price" people start to dwindle, toyota may offer the simpler version.Let us know how strongly they work on keeping you as a customer or try and stop you from going elsewhere !![]()

22 years ago....In 2003
Toyota doesn't do "orders" anymore. 22 years ago ? Sure. Today ? NoI would try both her and whoever is the current internet sales person at Carson to see if this is still possible.
