That was my observation with SSO as well, only I was using a 30 grade oil before, not a 40 grade like you were. Changing the oil out quieted it down. Funny thing is in this case I used the same filter over again because it wasn't in service that long. That takes the filter out of the mix.
Nah, TSO was also 0w30. When I couldnt get TSO anymore, I ordered SSO. When straight from using TSO for 38,000 miles to trying SSO and I instantly heard more valvetrain noise. This was using Amsoil oil filters as well. I have now moved on from Amsoil, but back in the TSO days, I absolutly loved using it. I would order cases every year.
