Why no SI and SK oils?

You want Uncle SI oil ???

I am sure there has to be legitimate reason why those weren't used.

Speaking of Uncle SI... A guy working at my local O Reilly's looks a whole whole lot like him.

Just a guess is that SI conflicts with SI units, IE: Metric.
And SK may conflict with the energy/oil refining company SK energy?

Off-hand I can't say why "SK" was skipped but the letter "I" is normally skipped because it's too easy to confuse with the number "1".

They will most likely skip it to avoid confusion with "is it 'S-oh' or 'S-zero' ?".

Definitely.

I was actually surprised that they have SN+ instead of SP already, I guess it is more of a band-aid while SP standard is already talked about and in draft.

I also won't be surprised things going forward will be only 0w16, 0w20, and 5w30, and let 5w20 and 10w30 just copy the old spec as is.
