C'mon Bill. You're usually much more sensible than this. What about Red oil? Or Green? Or Blue? A company does that to make their product stand out in some way. Bill, I'm with you. I want an oil that works and at the best price. That may or may not be Royal Purple, but they aren't the only company with an overzealous marketing campaign. And they aren't the worst oil out there either. You know you'd buy purple oil if it did the job for you. I'd buy Day-Glo orange oil if it did the job at the right price.
And as for the rest of us, me included, let's get a life, shall we and move on? If it weren't for a few tidbits of humor here and there, this thread would be a totally useless trip to la-la land.
But normally I'm not talking about Purple oil...
Really if there was red oil (call it Racing Red oil) or green (good green lube) or Blue (Blue Bad A__ Oil) I still would not buy it.
Honest.
Same reason why I don't buy High Mileage oils. If I do not need it why put it in (like dye for color) and if I do not need it then I'm not a buyer. I'm not trying to be a jerk, it is just that I'm blown away with all these posts of "oh this oil is magic" "I went from 14 mpg to 22-24mpg with this oil" (*Actual* post here and NO ONE challenged his statement. Sure a syn oil is going to improve your MPG 8-10mpg....
) is getting out of hand.
This board NEEDS to be based on facts.
If that is the only way a oil mfg can make sales of their oil, I want nothing to do with it.
I buy oil on how it performs. Lucky for me in the *many* vehicles that I work on and have owned in the past, all the oils I've used and bought (most on sale) work.
Around here, it is HARDER to justify running 200k plus on normal under a buck oil than some of the la la statements like I've seen...
I agree Jim, I need to get a life and let the [censored] flow. Been here a long time before most and it is sad to see the board go from where it was to where it is...
And going.
Thanks for the post! Bill
