Why haven't gas prices gone down?

TBH this whole conflict seems like a nothing-burger.

A blip in gas prices, a lot of headlines and speculation. But no real consequences for North Americans.

Life goes on. As long as we get the next iPhone, the internet works, and fast food is cheap, I think the majority in the US won't care. If you didn't read the news, besides some sticker shock at the pump, it appears that there was little to no impact for anyone.

The military learned a few lessons and likely tested some new techniques and equipment.

Iran for the most part, besides getting a beatdown and having their leader vaporized, will recover slowly. It's not hard to ramp up drone production and harass maritime traffic.

The problem is, that most Americans and in the EU don't realize or care, is that the regime is bent on literally causing nuclear war. Nuclear war is a means to an end, and is what they envision as what will bring back the "al-madhi" or some prophet. This guy only shows up in time of great conflict and will assist in destroying the Israel or whatnot. Did the bunker busters buy us some time? Maybe.

Overall I think this operation was important, and we'll see how successful it is if there is any change in the regimes leadership and behavior. The IRGC seem to be a faction not listening to the formal gov't and might have to be dealt with again. Hopefully they can be reigned in. We'll see.

My understanding is we cannot get all of it out even if we needed it. I have heard anywhere between 200 - 150 is the bottom, depending on who you want to believe.

Only top quality crude is placed in the buyer of last resort.

FIFO and circulating the brew has not been a priority so 2/3’s of what is left would very likely require mining to get it out.

It’s said to just be sludge and probably similar to asphalt.

Should have been removing the bottom layer for asphalt all along and we wouldn’t have this situation.

Most folks fail to realize to immense and extraordinary stretches many entities have gone to, to prevent immense failure and disruption to everyday life.

Right now there are a fairly large number of people worldwide who have lost “energy access” and access to various chemicals like fertilizers, up to and including entire nations without access.
What I’m writing obviously “looks bad” so domestically you won’t hear about it
, beyond a little blip that Mericans should drive less and not fly (from a very unexpected source you would never expect) our media isn’t going to talk about possible upcoming events, that look bad even if likely. If we get hit by rationing you won’t know until after it happens.

Worth noting the LDS has increased food production and distribution by millions of pounds in 2025, and is increasing that number again, this year for …. Reasons.
They are also more strongly encouraging all members to increase the size of their gardens.

These extremes alluded to and listed above remain invisible to everyday people until they are affected, we no longer live in an environment where you are going to get a full picture of what is actually coming from the usual sources.

I recommend like many others to possibly throw away some money on a rather significant amount of shelf stable rice and beans, alongside other shelf stable items.
I am not an individual who would ever tell anyone to prep as in the past it was a stupid take but at the moment it isn’t.
I’m not to the point of setting up a way to store water, mainly due to where I am but others are doing that as well for … reasons… that historically did not exist here.

We are in the proverbial calm , eye of the storm, hundreds of unprecedented events that would normally be front page news are being completely ignored because there is too much nonsense everyday for media or even individuals whose job it is to stay aware to keep up.

Here is where gasoline prices originate. It is a traded commodity on the CME ( Chicago Mercantile Exchange). The trade price is just below $3.00 per gallon. The traders got to trade. Mods , here are two screen shots to show the traded price.

If you want to bring down the price of gasoline, you need to convince the traders you really don’t need gasoline. Is that happening?
