Why does Techron advise to limit the number of applications during motor oil change intervals ?

Where is this? I remember maybe over a decade ago, they claimed that it was best to wait just before an oil change. They claimed it "depleted motor oil additives" to some degree. But I haven't heard of that being claimed recently.

"Chevron offers a variety of Techron® products based on application. Please refer to the Techron® Product Comparison Chart for each Techron® product’s use frequency. For example, our Techron Complete Fuel System Cleaner is recommended for use every season (winter, fall, spring, summer) or right before an oil change with no more than two treatments between oil changes."

They used to claim that it was because it "depleted additives" in the motor oil. I suppose a treatment just before changing the oil would minimize the time of this depletion as it would be brought back up with an oil change. But right now it just seems to be a recommendation without any explanation as to why. I would think a large amount (which will get into the motor oil) probably affects the properties of certain additives.

It’s good but harsh stuff. I only use it once year. Pour it in, fill it up, Run it until the fill light comes on and then change the oil and filter.
