Why Chirp the Horn When Locking a Car?

Someone suggested a home improvement section for BITOG, I think we would be better served with a grumpy old man section! Probably have to upgrade the servers due to all the activity it would get...

Nice.

Maybe it is not fair for me to comment. I slept for years next to 3000lbs Hydraulics, 4500lbs High pressure air, running equipment, LOUD ventilation fans being woken up to the sound of the a collision alarm, general alarm, or power plant alarm. Then we put all of that underwater in a steel tube. So you have to understand a horn blowing at me anywhere does not register in my brain, or on the scale of things that matter in this world.

When an unsuspecting person is right by the horn and you scare the
bee-geeberz out of them, yes, you're darn right there is.

Right. It's unnecessary, so don't scare the person!

When I "chirp" I don't want to scare anyone and even when I don't... I fear the door ding. So I park 30 feet from the nearest car.

Sometimes I have to do it to find my car. So many people drive a white fusion here. It's better than actually setting off the alarm though. Idk why they click multiple times.

My alarm chirps on every push of the fob, once when I arm it and twice when I disarm it. If someone happens to be near the car when i arm or disarm so be it. If it scares them so be it. They can go home and complain about it on the internet for all I care. LOL.

Awesome.

I do that on purpose. I wait for people to walk in front of the car, then hit the horn. You have to be careful though. Sometimes they get upset when you chuckle, so try to keep the laughs quiet.

Later on, I search BITOG to see if anyone is complaining about it.

I also make sure the car is set so the reverse lights come on when I unlock, then anyone nearby stops because they think I'm backing out. Oh, and if someone is parking lot stalking me for my spot, I often randomly walk around the parking lot to see how far they'll follow me.

Well maybe and are there more important things in the world? Absolutely - but on the other hand how is this any different than arguing over the filtering abilities of one filter over another, or the cold flow properties of various oils, and which one is "better" for a certain application.
