Why are shooting topics locked so quickly?

The president will give a 5 minute speech about the shooting and the next day forget it even happened.
He's too busy with his own agenda(s) to care, 2016 is fast approaching ....

grampi,
Just wondering what you did in the military ?

Those purchasing ad space on this site do not want their ads present on threads that are overly uncultured for fear of implied endorsement. As in all for-profit media, the sponsors buying the ad space make the rules; if even indirectly.

Nah, he moved on to today's shooting.

The thing I do not understand is that the NRA and related gun organizations are more "pro guns" than the average gun owner.

Example - the majority of gun owners (and one would assume almost all the non gun owners) would be for enhanced background checks. But the NRA lobby is too strong and too many congressman are worried about re-election that it does not get passed despite a majority of people for it. So is the NRA really representing the average gun owner?

Are you a member? You know you can always do a background check on yourself 2-3 times a week if it makes you feel better. Or simply turn your firearms into your local police if you feel like it. But I doubt you are an NRA member to begin with. Apparently the average gun owner doesn't agree with your line of thinking. It is a waste of $$ and resources to check law abiding people when the same LE resources could easily identify gang members and career criminals and disarm them.

The police in every major city know who the bad guys are. But it is easier to check those who willingly fill out the check form. Then pat yourself on the back and say "I checked 1000 people today...don't you feel safer?"

That's right, why bother running anyone's background since they are going to find a way to get a gun anyway. Just make it easy and sell them at the 7-11 checkout next to the cigarette lighters and gum.

Treasonous. I'm sick of rednecks on car forums. Go to the corvette forum if that's your thing.

You got it. Don't need to own, just need a hatred for the POTUS.

So much "tolerance" I see

Only the "tolerance" is for people who agree with you and your point of view.
I'm not tired of people who have a different point of view than mine. I am glad we can actually have different thoughts and ideas on issues. Neither one side or the other side of the spectrum has all the answers. Both sides have very valid ideas that can be very helpful in making decisions for this place.

Just like some of your thoughts and ideas are helpful too.

You have to admit that some of the shots at the POTUS are pretty low, I can see how some would be getting frustrated with that.

Different views are one thing. Treason and hate speech are another. The same rhetoric the S.C. shooter had can be found on other forums. The Gabby Gifford's shooter too. And on and on. Please go there and don't ruin this one.

I mean...Nazism, fascism, and racism is a "point of view". But one that is unacceptable in a modern civilized society. Right?

I agree with you on that. Good bad or indifferent..... I would rather for them to have the freedom to say what they say. Why?? Better to know what people really believe instead of being hidden in the dark. Freedom of speech means speech that we don't always like, find offensive, and inflammatory is allowed without negative sanction from the government.
I didn't care for people comparing the previous president to Hitler. But they deserve the right to say what they wanted too. Better to know who's a moonbat in the open. Than to force them underground so to speak.

What if something said in the name of "free speech" on a forum causes someone to pick up a gun and shoot a bunch of people? Do you think a 21 year old kid just gets their ideas intrinsically?

If I owned the forum, I'd want to stay away from it too.

Why do you have a need to know where the "moonbats are". Is that the first place to rape and pillage when the apocalypse happens?

Hate to break it to you.... Newsflash.... People don't need to be inspired to do terrible things. It happened well before this online forum circumstance. Get a look at history for that.
We ALL have a vested interest in who's a moonbat. Doesn't matter where or what their thinking is at in the spectrum. Again, better for them to be out front with it than in the dark. And has far as your ridiculous, spurious, and rather incendiary remarks..... Give it a rest

Wonder why these discussions get out of hand..... Zero need in that garbage. Period.

You're exaggerating...I've seen plenty of discussions in here that could be considered political or religious in nature remain civil...I guess it depends on your definition vulgar...in today's world people get offended by everything...

I'm not exaggerating. People's ideals about politics and religion are usually set in stone. Have you ever had a conversation and changed someone's mind about a political or religious topic? It doesn't happen. Because the ideals are set in stone, a person often feels they're being attacked when their ideals are challenged. When a person feels they're being attacked, things tend to go down hill quickly. Personally, I don't want it here.
