Why a Bugatti Veyron Oil Change Costs $20,000

I read the article. They said they partially "tear down the engine" at oil change time to inspect for defects or irregularities? Those cars must be pos's if they feel the engine may have some issues at oil change time. For what they cost, shouldn't it be free of any "issues"??

It's a public forum. Reposts are the norm. Ignore the rude members. If there were not reposts on this forum we would have absolutely nothing to discuss.

Agreed; amazing the knee jerk reaction to something as simple as a repost. It is not like the BITOG search engine is that great. Even using Google site:bobistheoilguy.com does not always give the best/complete results.

All I can say is , agreeing with you, that it must be a pretty poor engine if they are that worried about it!
I'm curious, does anyone know more about that engine?

All a search does is bring up 25 posts on one or two topics talked about that day. No way he would have found something from six months ago. I don't even bother using the search function, maybe the mods will listen and make it better. They didn't listen the last 5 or 10 times I've complained.

GM should consider it for the Z06 motor after the problems they've had

Going by that logic, every engine used in Top Fuel is a "POS" also. I forget the details, but IIRC it's completely rebuilt after every race; and after 5 races or so pistons and other parts are replaced. 99% sure that the engines used for NASCAR are the same way. Rebuilt after every use.

This is a 1,000hp VW after all. Wouldn't you want to periodically check everything?

Actually: what's the top speed of this car versus some of the smaller aircraft?

Owning bleeding edge technology costs a lot.

A timing belt service on a Ferrari isn't free either.

Indeed. A used Ferrari many times becomes really cheap when the 10k mile service comes up!

Watch out.

Every thread you start might just have "use the search feature!!!" as the first few responses as I am sure everything on this forum being discussed has been discussed on the internet at least a dozen other times.

Yep I know a couple of people who got steals on 360's in 2008 when the posers who financed them for a decade had their income adjusted and a T belt service came due!

Owning a high end car is like owning an aircraft, large boat, or race horse. The cost of entry is just one of the costs associated with having it. Or in simpler terms you have to pay to play.

In the yachting world they say figure on 10% of the boats purchase price for yearly operating costs. $16M purchase figure $1.6M a year to own.

These articles are great click bait, nothing more or less.

The Bugatti Veyron from what I have read and understand is VW's "experiment" in making a REALLY fast car. They have found a way to pass their research costs on to the buyer.

I have read that the annual maintenance costs for a Veyron can reach $250,000 a year.

While this is an absolutely absurd amount, for billionaires it is nothing.
