2006 Scion tC 5 speed 2.4l 2az-fe 15,000 miles.
Castrol Syntec 5w-20

5 qt jug at walmart for $21, makes me happy.

On the topic of cold weather in Toronto I got curious and did a search and found out the coldest temp ever recorded in Toronto (at Pearson Airport) was -24.3F (-31.3C) in Jan 1981. I didn't remember it ever getting that cold here in my lifetime, although I would've just turned 11 shortly before that so I really didn't pay much attention to temperatures at that young age either.

FWIW, the hottest temp ever recorded was 100.9F, in Aug 1948.

2004 Accord V6. 26,000 miles. GTX 5w/20 first 10,000. M1 5W/20 the last 16,000. Syntec 5W/20 waiting in the wings.

Mobil1 5w-20 in 2006 Civic & 2006 CR-V. On the Civic I follow the OLM, on the CR-V I change it every 6 months.

So far so good. Need to adjust the CR-V's parking brake cable but I doubt that is due to the oil

Pennzoil Platinum Synthetic 5w20, first used at 15K on car, currently at 25K, 4-season weather, 70/30 split on highway/city driving, pretty easy driving, run it hard once in a while.

UOA on first 7500K mile run of Platinum came back looking GREAT: http://theoildrop.server101.com/forums/s...sj38b4ai9ai65gn

The car only has just over 10K on it...I beleive it went to 15% in the 7Kish range. I'll be letting it get closer to 0% now that I'm using the M1.

BTW, recently got over 35mpg driving in 'teens' weather, snow etc. with winter blend fuel. I'll take it.

M1, 5W-20, 900 miles, 05 Mustang GT 4.6, Chicago city driving short trips. 3.5 mile trip to work. C&L air intake with a AEM Dryflow filter and after market tune. The car gets pushed hard when my wife lets me drive it on the weekends. It now has 12,000 miles with 6 month OCI

2004 Prius using Mobil 1 0w-20 for 9000 of about 55000 miles the rest was Mobil 1 5w-30, I think the 0w-20 will be better for gas mileage and winter. Link to UOA at 2400 miles is above.

Motorcraft 5W-20 Synththetic Blend
0 mi - 14,200 mi
2005 Ford F150 5.4L 3V 0HC
Temperature: 5*F to 105*F
70% City / 30% Highway
Change Every 6 mo or 5,000 mi

Scheaffers 704, '06 Mustang GT 5spd stick, C&L, AEM Dryflow filter, Brenspeed 93 tune, go 6000 mi OCI. Taken (not stirred) several times per week to redline, slam-bam thank you maam through the gears, combined with three mile drive to & from work.

presently using RedLine 5w-20 in an 06 Civic, about 1000 miles on the oil, don't plan on changing till spring or about 8000 miles. NAPA Gold filter from FLEETFILTER

I've run Havoline, Motorcraft, and Pennzoil Yellow in 5W20, no probs whatsoever for 5K-ish. I'm 4K+ into a GC 0W30 OCI, also without issue. As in all the others, the GC at 4.5K is as clean as the day it went in. This is a fine vehicle for 7500 OCI. I'm looking ahead to finding 0W20 PP or M1 for just that after my 30K at the stealership.

This car likes thin..

So, people are using 5w-20 because it's a good oil. Not many are using it to get an extra tiny bit of mileage. Two Crown Vic's have hit 200k with 5w-20 and many are either driving in cold weather or driving hard and not having problems. It works in big Ford V8's and high reving rice-rockets.

In another few years they will come out with 0w-10 oil for new cars and we can start this too-thin stuff and cafe ratings all over again. 0w-10 is way too thin and you need a thick robust oil like 5w-20.....
