a-SQUARED finished and found 5 high-risk trojans; all gotten rid of...
I am running AVG free again (in safe mode this time) just to be sure....

I hope all this takes care of it..
Thanks for the support, guys/gals. :)

EDIT
just saw your new post Overkill.
how do I disable AVG free beforehand? I have to uninstall AVG free to run Avira right? or do you mean some other (online) scan from eset site? link?

AVG only runs in command line mode or whatever when XP is on safe mode; looked like it removed 1 Trojan during the safe mode AVG scan...no typical scan report on the command line scan.

I guess i'll run that etest online scan also...

so, overkill: you think i would be better off with Avira than AVG huh?
how can i check if all my work really got rid of the trojans?
just scan with AVG again i guess?

It should. I thank Sprintman for turning me on to it. Run a scan every few days at least. Yes get Avira.

Right click on "my computer" and go down to properties. This will bring up a window with several tabs. Select the "system restore" tab. Then click the box next to "turn off system restore on all drives" click OK and there you are.

Whoops, I was AFK.

Yessir, uninstall AVG and install Avira.

Much better scanner.

Then run a full scan with it.

And yes, the eset link you posted is the correct one to run.
