Good afternoon folks. Co worker was asking me this last night. I said probably an outside vendor like Goodyear, Firestone or others. Anyone here know?
I have a customer who services heavy trucks, and also rents Penske trucks from his shop. So I assume he, and shops like his, services them. He also works on county plow trucks and the like.Good afternoon folks. Co worker was asking me this last night. I said probably an outside vendor like Goodyear, Firestone or others. Anyone here know?
Impressive and very streamlined. Interesting to see such a large company with an eBay store rather than just throw their stuff out. Sounds like smart management to me.Instead of loosening things to RNR the belts they cut the old ones off and had a tool to roll the new belts on. Never adjusted them.
They had other ideas I can't think of right now. As I said that was 1996 and they were still running 1973 f350's with an unusual 330 cuin Ford FE engine and a manual 4 speed. The big trucks were Chevrolet with the 366 and a 5 speed. Neither had AC.Impressive and very streamlined. Budget is part of Avis group, no?Budget has corporate locations where they service, but I believe they also use some 3rd parties throughout the country. Penske is in-house; they are the best run of all the moving truck lines and typically charge the most for that reason. Budget can be very hit and miss. They use a lot of "dealers," as they call them, sort of like a franchisee, and they aren't known for caring much about the condition or cleanliness of the truck, just getting it on rent.
Source: Our family had a Budget Car & Truck Rental franchise; we owned our cars and rented the trucks for corporate, receiving a rev share. We actually cleaned the trucks (almost always came in filthy) and made sure they were roadworthy. Did my share of running trucks due for service to the corporate maintenance facility to pick up recently serviced ones in exchange.
Yes, but Budget still has some licensees left over from the pre-Avis days, e.g. Atlanta, Utah, etc.Budget is part of Avis group, no?
I’ve been noticing with the rise of CRACs(Consolidated Rent-A-Car centers) at airports, the rental car companies(Hertz/Avis/Enterprise) are doing less work at their airport hubs and sending more cars to Bridgestone Retail Ops(Firestone/Wheel Works), Sumitomo Americas(Big O/Midas/NTB/Speedee Oil) or Jiffy Lube(SOPUS). Hertz has their hands more with the Uber/Doordash rental programs - more profitable than their usual business clients. There’s less space for a repair shop af the new consolidated airport hubs that serve all brands.
