Ordered two AGM marine group 27 marine batteries from Walmart. EverStart brand. Shipped from Springfield IN.

I see nothing indicating a manufacturer.

Previous East Penn AGM marine batteries had a very light gray almost translucent lower section case. These are all black.

This is what I found. Doesn't mean it is accurate.

On an EverStart battery, particularly the EverStart Platinum AGM line sold at Walmart, a serial number starting with HAN indicates that the battery was manufactured by Hankook AtlasBX (often referred to as ATL or Hankook)

And what does anyone know about Hankook batteries? Hopefully more like East Penn than Exide.
I've never owned one, but I suspect they are decent batteries...maybe a notch below Clarios. They have a relatively new U.S. battery manufacturing facility in Tennessee. FWIW, modern Exide batteries appear to be head and shoulders better than the legacy Exide batteries of 20 years ago which were notoriously bad.

Atlasbx is a domestic brand for South Korean batteries and has over 70 years of battery manufacturing. They merged with Hankook Company in 2021 and Hankook is the international brand name. Their Clarksville TN plant manufactures batteries for the US market and recently started supplying batteries to Walmart under the Everstart brand along with Clarios (Johnson Controls)made ones. Everstarts have also been manufactured by East Penn in the past. I would say it is probably every bit as good as any other major manufacturer's battery.

A lot of AGM batteries are being manufactured with all black cases these days as opposed to the gray lower cases. Recently visited the parts dept. at my VW/Audi dealer and all of the OE replacement AGMs were Vartas and had all black cases.

I used the battery to start the engine. Lifting the batteries into my boat the NAPA group 27 AGM battery seemed several pounds heavier than the new Hancock AGM battery.

So I bought the two AGM batteries for $200 each and sold my old 2022 mfg date flooded batteries for $75 each. I think I did pretty well. They tested above 100% CCA capacity after sitting for a few days.

Even multiply the MCA by .75 to get CCA I think marine batteries have a higher MCA than marked.

Even the Ancel battery tester where you can enter the rated MCA lists the battery by CCA in its display.
