Who makes EverStart Platinum AGM batteries?

I installed an Everstart Platinum H6 (labeled made in Germany) in my wife's 2016 Acura in Oct 2022. Today it failed with symptoms of a shorted cell. That 5 months it worked ok then failed with no warning symptoms. 4 yr replacement warranty from Walmart - headed there now to exchange.

So will I be replacing this thing 7 times under warranty?

I just installed an EverStart Platinum H6 in my VW Golf R 7.5 with a manufacture stamp of 2/23 and a serial number that begins JCH20008 and ran the adaptation for the car showing the manufacturer as "unknown". Can anyone help me determine who the manufacturer is? Thanks.

Read the label and support a US manufacturer if you can. I noticed that some batteries at WM are imported while some are domestically sourced. It might be worth reading the label before you buy.
Just bought a mower battery from Tractor Supply and it was made in Viet Nam.

If it has the white, oddly shaped white sticker that says "Made in Germany" it is assumed Varta, which is owned by Clarios.

Hopefully just a fluke. I have the H8 AGM version from AC Delco, also "made in Germany" by Varta...four years now, and still exceeds its CCA rating.

I bought a Made-in-South Korea Everstart Platinum AGM this morning. Dated Dec 2023, and it measured at 12.65V on the rack. There was another one, dated Jan 2024, but it measured at 12.45V, so I passed on that one. The serial number starts with HAN, which I assume identifies Hankook as the manufacturer. Hankook's premium AGM for the Korean market does not look anything like the Walmart battery.

Some useful information posted on another thread by BITOG member "nthach" :

The serial number will spill the beans, AFAIK for who supplied the battery:
JCI - Clarios, fka Johnson Controls, Inc
EPM - East Penn Manufacuring
These are Korean made;
HSW - Hyundai Songwoo
ATL - Hankook Atlas
DTR - DN Automotive, fka Dong-An Tire & Rubber

I think part of the reason for the difference is you are comparing a Group 35 you purchased, to a H series European standard battery (H5, H6, H7, H8 etc). The H series Euro standard seems to have very specific case design requirements (outside of color, which car vary quite a bit). If you compare H series batteries in general amongst various manufacturers, you see more simularities than differences. I believe (a hunch) that this is part of the standard that all manufacturers must follow to meet that standard. The batteries that are outside that series, seems to have bit more latitude in case design.

This Hankook AGM I found at a UK website looks more similar to the Walmart AGM, but still not a perfect match in case design. The handle and top plate look identical to the Walmart version I think.

They are have defined characteristics, some more detailed than others. One of the characteristics of Hx batteries is the "recessed" terminals, relative to the top plane of the battery.

The BCI used to have a guide, with all the dimensions, terminal orientation, and other traits, to all the different types publicly available on their site, but I can't find it any longer, nor the copy I saved locally.

WIth supply changes occurring frequently, and marketing materials not updated to keep pace, I wouldn't take anything for granted, and only rely on what I see on the rack in the store. Certainly won't take a stock photo to be representative of anything other than to serve as an example, not a precise portrayal of a specific battery application.
