My father's 2016 Camry is still on its original Panasonic 12 volt. It is a JIS D26 AGM battery. The dealer is backorder and very expensive, over $450. From reading, others have used a 24F AGM in place of the OEM style battery. This works as long as there is a vent port for the battery. I confirmed with a 24F flood battery I have that it physically fits and the cables will reach (the posts are opposite on a 24f).

We seem to have limited choices for a 24F AGM locally. Canadian tires 24F AGM (East Penn) but it has no vent connection. Costco has no stock on the energizer AGMs which do have the vent port it needs. There is an interstate dealer but there price is nearly what Toyota wants.

Are there any other good battery options in Canada for this car? Any other sizes that will work?

It seems later Camrys use a Group 47 which has way more selection. Comparing the dimensions, I think it would be too small for the battery hold down bracket.

I can with 100% certainty say 24F will fit, guaranteed - Source: personal experience.

Even 86-2, 24, 34, 35 and many other size batteries will fit as long as there aren't any "vent caps" like some FLA batteries have (even then you can make it work)

best option would be a 24F AGM battery as they are always on a deal and readily available.

Are you saying that Costco does not stock the battery in the store, or they do not stock it at all.
Ask them of they can order it. They have offered to do that for me in the past.

I came across this post

Which he has a full document on 2017 12V battery replacement, sizing, replacements, and ventilation: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1usrh91rNRlyg5pef1cOn1F_IcPeIW6VBLyjbj9Zr7Co/edit?tab=t.0

Good luck

Thank you, very helpful post. Unfortunately most of the batteries listed are not available in my area. For some reason, Wal-Mart doesn't carry the AGMs in Canada. The interstate dealer want's $350 for their battery and it only has a 3 year warranty.

I found a Costco that says they just got a shipment of some of the 24F Energizer AGMs. They should work, as they have the vent and are only $250 with a 5 year warranty. I have to go out of town this weekend and will pass by this Costco, so I should be able to get one.

I don’t know the actual size/rating of the oe battery versus the group 24, but I can’t see why you wouldn’t go with the more common form factor.

If it’s AGM, use AGM. Install the vent and plug.
