I dont like taking out loans or leases on anything, we pay for what we buy, we keep our vehicles as long as they look very respectable and run just the same.
I dont buy into all this crazy marketing at insane prices. Vehicles loaded with crap I could care less about, give me performance and comfort for my money and leave me alone
One thing that makes me laugh and dont get me wrong, we all buy what makes us happy but as individuals we are free to laugh at things we find personally retarded. I love the big macho pick up truck with electric step tailgates!!! *LOL* oh come on now I have seen everything. No longer can bother to left and close a tailgate? Again, that is just me and for the record I feel the same about automatic hatchbacks on SUVs.
I guess I just like to exercise and lifting and closing something like a tail gate or hatch back is the same to me as I purposely park far from the doors of a store so I can fast walk and get more exercise.

Our 2014 Bluetec runs flawlessly, returns 30+ mpgs, and has a 4yr/48k mile extended warranty from MB covering virtually the entire powertrain. A keeper.

The 2016 X3d is for sale since we both work fully remotely and don't need 2 separate cars.

The FJ is a toy.

I did some car shopping online this weekend, and it helped me to recall how much I like my 09 Camry with 232,000 miles and how much my daughter likes her Beetle. She would get the Camry if I got another ride.

All I can afford are Camry’s and Altima’s, and they would be no different than what I have. I’ll keep saving until the markets drop from lack of buyers again, like they always do.

I even looked at AWD Challengers, which are at least decently priced new and could be fun while getting decent mileage.

I was only looking at new because my go to $20,000 car is not worth it anymore.

I’d really like a Jeep 4xe, but the price is unobtainable for my budget.

I cannot see new vehicles being reliable until this nonsense ends.

Either it sits on the lot for over three months waiting on a chip as a "new" vehicle, or sold right to you with chips missing backordered for a year....

I know a guy that had to trade his whole fleet of ecodiesels for hemis. He's not a car guy so my info was vague but they went into limp mode, parts not available for months sometimes, and cost well over $1000 (about 4 years ago before covid). I believe he said it was happening at around 80-100k miles. Maybe today this would be an easier fix (parts available) but also they are known to have a weak bottom end afaik.

Yea-there was a guy on here who bought one and basically short tripped it. So every time he took it out it went in to regenerative (?) mode I believe. So he got rid of it. Of course if it was a grocery getter so you could make an argument he should have bought a gas motor to begin with. My son manged a small fleet of diesel Sprinters and maintenance and repairs wee astronomical-they couldn't wait for the leases to end to replace them with gas

My Pilot, only has 27,000 miles on it, a 2016 bought new in Dec 2015. It has been trouble free and I hope to keep it until I am worm dirt.

At least for another year.. or until the kitchen is done being remodeled. It'll be her vehicle and her choice, not sure what she'll get. She'd like a BMW, Mercedes just for short term giggles but we're cheap so probably not.

Even before the gas hikes and covid I planned on keeping what I have. My 89 Sierra has a crate engine with 22k and a rebuilt tranny with 12k, the rest of the truck has 83k but it's starting to rust pretty good but that's ok, I use it when ever they put salt down or I need to park in a parking lot. My 08 Lucerne should last a while, it's has 89k on it and is one of the better used cars I've purchased as far as repairs go in the four years I've owned it.

But hey, I encourage everyone to go buy new vehicles, that way if I decide I want a new to me used vehicle there will be plenty to choose from.

I'll be keeping my two vehicles going as long as possible. They are paid for and the biggest expense for me is gas.

Keeping mine for awhile. Sold my financed F-150 last year and bought the old Toyota for cash. I don't drive much at all now that I'm working from home so I really didn't need a $40k truck to run around in. I've wasted a lot of $$ on cars over the years so I'm hoping to get out of that habit. If the Camry holds up another 2 and a half years or so, I'll give it to my teenage daughter and buy myself another cash car at that time.
