Who is keeping their auto....???

Keeping my 2005 Silverado extended cab 4wd and my 84 Olds cutlass. I could afford payments on a new truck but I'd have no extra income from my mileage cheques and when the new truck starts needing expensive repairs, I'll still be paying for it. A new truck would be fun/cool but I'm kidding myself like many do it I convince myself to replace it.

If you have excess vehicles, it might be a good time to get rid, even clunkers get top dollar now I imagine. Then get a replacement when prices are sensible again.

We have only had diesel vehicles for years. Wife got a new job, so we sold our house last year and moved to the Colorado western slope, to a small, country town. She works in the School District and we only live a couple blocks from her office. So I didn't want to ruin her ML250 diesel, short tripping, so we purchased the FJ. It had 217k miles on it and we paid $11k for it. It now has 240K on it and we received an offer on it last month for $18k. I must admit, that I did a double-take...... The thought even crossed my mind, sell it and buy an EV. Called my son, who is in the car business and he said.... "forget it Dad. If you are lucky enough to find an EV right now, it will be priced even more crazy than a gasoline vehicle." So...... I have ZERO plans to sell it, as the cost to replace would be completely ridiculous.

I am glad warmer temps are soon on the way, as I will be riding my motorcycles 90% of my traveling. My bike gets about 50mpg and the wife's Versys 300 gets 70-80mpg. By the way, I am not selling or buying any motorcycles either.

06 Solara, @ 200k.
07 Siverado, @ 137k

Have never purchased a new vehicle. Not going to now. And not replacing one of the above with another used vehicle unless forced to.

Mine : 2005 Chevy Avalanche with 228,000 miles and runs and drives great.
Hers : 2013 Lexus ES350 with 85,000 miles and runs and drives as new.
Ours : 2009 Harley Superglide with 48,000 miles gets between 45 and 50 mpg and runs and rides like the day I bought it.
I’ll probably be riding the Harley more on nice days and errands that don’t require a car or truck.
No, I’m not in the market for ANY vehicle! (y)

My 06 Accord 4 cyl with 131k well served me and going good. A grocery car etc now since after my retirment two years ago.Last Sept. catalytic converter stolen in front of my house northwest chicago, cost me 750$ including 2 o2 sensors ,last couple years replaced front driver side axle, ball joints, starter, water pump ,serpentine belt, tensioner. It's seller market now, hard to get new replacement car,was looking at Hyundai vera cruz pick up? the base model? Will hold on to these as far as I can.

I might get something. Would rather buy it now with a few years left to work than buy it after I retire. Who knows if car prices will ever come back down to pre crisis levels.

Lots of people are circling the wagons and not making big purchases.

I have a company car that I’m using more often.

Not buying anything until the market has some resemblance of normalcy. Beater Corolla it is for the time being!

My EcoDiesel is nearly 9 years old and the wife's BluTech is nearly 8 years old... our FJ Cruiser is 15 years old.

We are very happy with our vehicles and are intent to maintain them moving forward.

Can't tolerate a new vehicle at $50k to $80k on the sticker.

........
I'm keeping my Accent forever unless some idiot totals it. Ultra reliable and very easy to work on.
they dont use salt there? That usually makes the decision here sooner or later.
Wash your car often (find one that does under carriage rinses) and it shouldn't be an issue. Almost zero rust on mine because I take it through the wash every time they put salt down, when the weather's bad enough it sometimes gets washed 4-5x a week.

I got 200k on my '14 Nissan Versa Note....I'm needing to be shopping for a new car, and this is really tough.

I may throw dealer labor, new engine, struts, and cvt in my car, the market is that crazy.

I remember we bought 16 CRV EXL back in November '16, for $28K OTD

nowadays, the same brand new vehicle nearly runs for $38K OTD

just nuts

I daily a 2000 Lincoln Town Car, and my wife dailies the 03 Corolla she bought new. I also have an 04 Ram 1500 for truck duties, an 85 GMC conversion van for trips, and some 70’s vehicles for fun. I live in Texas, so they aren’t rotten. No plans on buying anything new. If the Town Car bites the dust, I’ll replace it with the nicest Panther, Avalon, Camry, or ES300 I can find Within my budget.

Oh yeah. 2 years (almost exactly) ago I was going to be selling my 20 year old F-350 and then 3 year old Subaru for a newer midsize truck that I'd daily drive and tow my Jeep with. I figured it'd be a consolidation and I would be able to have confidence that I'd make it everywhere and back towing the Jeep without worrying about my truck breaking down on longer trips.

Things went sideways. We all know why. I decided that it was financially better to stick with what I had and just rent trucks for longer trips. I should be able to keep my truck going enough for local trips.

Then last summer our house flooded. I sold my 4 year old Subaru, bought a 20 year old beater and am driving happily payment free 😊

Going to stick with what I have for now until things calm down. Fiance works from home, so we're buying the Nissan off lease to at least have one nicer / newer car in the fleet for emergencies. I'll DD that during the summer for the better fuel economy then put it up for the winter so it doesn't rust .

When her car was totalled, my wife went used car shopping with a few instructions: 4cyl Camry any color but old asphalt gray. Got a pretty blue '17 SE with less than 20k miles. I hate used car salesmen, so when I retired, I sent her out again, she looked at 2 and chose the appliance white LE I'm driving now. In ~5yrs, her SE has about 65K miles and the LE about 60K. SE got a set of Generals and just oil and filters. My LE has a MAXX battery and will need tires sometime this yr. That's it. beside oil changes of course. A 10 pack of Toyota filters from an on line dlr was 35$ to the door. STP 0w20 or whatever 0w20 on sale at the local AZ. I was considering trading in the LE and buying a 4wd pickup. I think a better plan may be to put several thousand$$ (again) into a rehabilitation of the Rat
