I just picked up a Napa Gold oil filter for my 2002 corolla (don't recall the filter # but equivalent to a M1 103). Usually the filters are black but this one was white. At first I thought I got ripped and someone put a cheaper filter in the box but it says Napa Gold (and made in the USA for that matter). Anyone else notice the color change? I recall the Wix labeled counterparts are white correct? Wonder if Napa is trying to save money or is it just a fluke?

Obviously not a big deal but its sunday morning and I'm bored

Some of their low volume filters are white. But a filter that fits any Toyota shouldn't be low volume. Where did you buy it at?

I bought it at a small town napa I usually buy them at. I will have to double check and see if it is the correct filter.

I noticed that. The one for my hemi is white also. All others for me have been black. But it don't matter if your black or white (he he).

WIX filters I use come in both black and white, all made in USA.

I work for a five store Napa group. Not all Napa Gold filters are black. Most of the heavy duty, industrial filters and automotive filters that also fit industrial applications are white. According to our filter rep, Wix will also send out white colored filters when they are short on black colored ones. New filters part numbers are also shipped in white until enough demand warrents the extra time & expense of painting them black and applying the Napa Gold label. The filter is the same inside; just the labeling and color are different.

What color is the ADBV? Usually the ProSelect is black because they use nitrite.

If the filter doesn't say ProSelect on the can then its a Gold.

Looking at the filter again it is a 1396, I thought it looked bigger. I wonder if it will fit or should I take it back and get the 1394? I really have nothing against using a bigger filter.

It will fit just the same as the 1394 its just a bit longer. IMO that's not really an oversize, the 1396 was designed for the Corolla XRS and the Camry 4I.

You could look at the FL400S if you want a truly bigger, cheaper, silicon, open end bypass, Purolator, with high avail.
