That sounds about right.This reminds me. Many years ago I worked as an appliance repair guy. The guy who owned the place used to "rebuild" washer transmissions. I can't remember the brand. He would cobble together the best parts out of blown trannys and assemble them. And then to top it all off he would fill it with used oil. He said the new oil was too expensive to use. He was sure not above board with all that. Eventually went out of business. Served him right.
In my area there's not many Appliance repairman left. I got started it just the right time as several guys were retiring and I have an unbelievable amount of work but I get bored just replacing parts and every now and then I want to rebuild something like a transmission rather than just ordering a remanufactured or new one. This is for my sister-in-law so I could pretty much do whatever I felt like LOL I'm not charging her for it anyway I just want feedback on how it works so I can decide if this will become my standard practice.
