Which to use.

I'm going to swap out the diff fluid in the Charger soon and am deciding what I should use. It's hard to tell which oils are actually GL-5 certified with the language expressed. My ultimate criteria is low temperature performance and the possibility of increased gas mileage. With this being said It seems as though SynPower would be the best bang for the buck. What do y'all think?

If you have a Pennzoil quick lube nearby, most carry Royal Purple and do rear diff xchange for $44 after coupon. Was well worth it when I did it on our Mountaineer. Cheaper than me buying the oil and I sat and listened to the radio while they got dirty and smelly.

If you are not going to take dwcopple's advice I would buy the Synpower. It is a quality lube and reasonable. My second choice would be the RL.

I would use the coupon for the quickie lube myself on this one.

I forgot about AAP codes!

I like the LAT stuff.

I am going to use it again on the next change.

Just remember, that if you have a clutch, or cone type limited slip diff in it, you MUST add the friction modifier, since LAT puts NONE in their gear oils.

Awesome read. I'm surprised you'd recommend M1 or SynPower as their 75w90 versions didn't do all too hot on this test.

I asked Chrysler about info on their gear oil and they actually replied with info not just marketing mumbo-jumbo. They gave me ranges though which is odd

I'd use the valvoline synpower. It's real good stuff IMO.
I have been running synpower in both my dana 44 and my chrysler 9 1/4 rear axle under my 91 ram and it has held up very good.
And i am not easy on my drivetrain at all.

Red Line was tied for 3rd place overall in Amsoil's white paper, GM Synthetic was 2nd, Amsoil Severe Gear was naturally 1st.

Out of those choices for the prices listed, I'd go with Red Line followed up by SynPower.

I have no experience with LAT, but have used all of the others at one point or another with zero issues.
